No semularities between the cases.

Sure there are. A white guy shot a black kid. What else do you need to know?

Fucking nitpickers.

I do feel that Zimmerman fans should support this man as well, the circumstances are almost identical.

But if you have so little in your life to feel good about that you have to descend to this kind of shit, by all means do whatever it takes.

Still you continue to insult an OP author for purposes only known to yourself, "Gorean".
What makes you qualified to do so?
If you hate such posts why don't you ignore them?

Is there some reason for saying this?

Shootings like that should be 1st degree murder. Now if the kid was in his house ya I can see that but on the street minding his own business? That is murder.

BamaD -> RE: Is WI a stand your ground state? (6/5/2012 12:24:43 PM)

We are talking about Spooner right? If so no argument never has been one.

In fact that is exactly what he has been charged with.

As someone who has had their home broken into and burglarized I sympathize with the old man but you can't shoot people while they take out their trash. Wait until they are in your house - then empty the clip. I'm guessing many of the anti-gun zealots here have never been the first hand victim of crime. Even after that burglary I still did not carry a gun. Only after my cousin shot and killed an intruder in her home did I buy one and I never leave home without it.

Ironically, do not have an American Express card.

Same here both counts

I have a close friend that has her concealed weapons permit so she always has her 9mm on her, a keychain thing of mace and is buying a taser. I had to laugh and ask if she was paranoid much but sadly today you can't be too careful.

We have guns here but with young children in the house they are in a safe with trigger locks. If someone broke in I don't think I could get to them in time.

BamaD -> RE: Is WI a stand your ground state? (6/8/2012 3:07:27 PM)

Did you know that one trrigger lock in 3 doesn't lock properly, 1 in 3 won't unlock so only 1 in 3 works according to consumer reports.
Not making any judgement on using them, I wouldn't but it's your house your choice. I would double check the locks though.

Moonlightmaddnes -> RE: Is WI a stand your ground state? (6/8/2012 4:49:43 PM)

I will, thanks. My husband takes them off alot to go shooting, but we will double check them. We plan on getting a safe that holds one gun. It uses either a code or fingerprint and we would have instant access to a loaded ready to shoot gun. The house across from us is becoming a hang out for meth heads. Joy. Twice now I have had to pull my kids in the house and lock the door over scary people fighting outside.

BamaD -> RE: Is WI a stand your ground state? (6/8/2012 4:57:16 PM)

You might get a shotgun and be sure they kids know never to touch it. A pump takes about one second to chamber a round and small children can't work it. Again just a suggestion you know your situation far better than I do.

I know what you mean we have a house across from me reapeatedly rented to gangbacger wanna bees. Kept myself armed at all times but by the time this began my son was 15 and had been shooting for five years so he had all the safty rules deeply ingrained in him.
Again my situation is not the same as yours. My intent is to give you information to work with not to tell you what to do.

BamaD -> RE: Is WI a stand your ground state? (6/8/2012 5:05:13 PM)

Sounds like you got some of the locks that work, Defenatly not the one that won't unlock, the safe sounds cool and could well be your answer.

I wouldn't be so sure a small child cannot chamber a pump shotgun. If I felt the need to have a loaded weapon in a house with children it would definitely be a pump shotgun but one with a very good safety. Something like the sliding safety on top of the Mossbergs over the simple push pin safety on the Winchesters.

BamaD -> RE: Is WI a stand your ground state? (6/8/2012 5:45:21 PM)

A good precaution. I prefer a double hammer gun more intimidating improving the chance they will run before I have to shoot them, but I have no small children. Their fingerprint operated safe might be best if they can put both their prints in and feel better with handgun.

lovmuffin -> RE: Is WI a stand your ground state? (6/8/2012 6:21:53 PM)

A semi auto hand gun unloaded with the a full magazine or 2 near by or a revolver unloaded with speed loaders handy. The former is best because it's faster to load and if the kid does find and figure out how to get the magazine in he will have a hard time racking the slide.

BamaD -> RE: Is WI a stand your ground state? (6/8/2012 6:43:10 PM)

Personally I feel that traing is the best safty at 2 my son knew he could look at a gun if he asked but thathe was to never touch one otherwise. I have taught several kids with uniformly good results. I have found untrained adults to be a greater safty hazzard.
