FR Having watched the video, it seems to me that both it and the thread are disingenuously named. Obama didn't say "Go buy a thingamajig." He talked about how having some extra money would help folks, whose spending would in turn boost the economy. The thingamajig for the furnace was just one example, and a welcome bit of comedy from a leader who doesn't (imho) have a natural gift for it.

I watched the clip and thought Yachtie must be on something. Hey, $3,000 extra a year may not get me a thingamajig (I don't need one) but it will help to pay for new wiring--I've still got knob and tube in parts of my house.

Actually, no. The thingamajig is for the whatchamacallit. The whirlygig is way above my level, else I would explain it further. The OP seems to be proposing the matter that we should just expect more staged and scripted events as standard measure of US Presidents. (Which is to say, that he seems to be "all in" with being directed by the media, as indicated by being so focused on internet contra-response to it, hoever itself convoluted). In this regard, there is no question that "mission accomplished," as was played out, was immensely better theater than this latest 'thingamajig,' being that the media either wipes away all background which might render the story not to their liking, or turns vice into virtue, as they fell over themselves in doing re Oliver North (as it turned out, much more to their liking, being the "lib'ral" media they are, you know). War and invasion provide a demonstrably better background for this purpose. He has a point. This is where we are.
