Well, I already dislike him as a candidate. And this just reinforces his tremendous sense of entitlement that he seems to have. It is not the kind of person that I think we need running the country. Oddly, the leftist leaning politics of Obama when he was younger at least point to someone who cared about the weak and poor in society. One can argue philosophically about whether Communism can actually work in practice, but socialist ideas are behind our social safety net. So our politics and policies, as a nation, already embrace socialist principles. Do I think what people did in the past is important? I particularly think it is important when it shows us how someone treats other people - especially if it appears that they have not changed. Sometimes that is a good thing, and sometimes a bad. So for me, things like prior drug use matters less (provided someone is not currently using drugs). But behavior that shows contempt of others (bullying, strapping a dog to the car, pretending to be a cop and using that authority to infringe on other's rights) all show how someone treats other people. I'm not interested in a leader who seems to show repeatedly that he feels he is entitled to treat others poorly. I don't doubt that there are others who feel similarly. And I am also sure there are people who could care less how badly Romney treated others - after all, one doesn't care about this aspect of his behavior unless one actually cares about other people oneself.
