Very simple Odyssey --- because if anybody asked you why there was a discrepancy you could do what you just did -- and that would end the discussion. BUT, what if there are multiple websites with your profile and each one has a different age -- and I'm not referring to minor differences....then THAT is entirely different and can be used as an indicator of dishonesty -- i.e. intentional desire to mislead and manipulate CM members. With respect to weight differences: If you provide an explanation, then there is no reason to doubt your honesty. I think I see where this is headed. My discussion here is focused upon intentional dishonesty. Many people who are deliberately dishonest do not limit themselves to just one thing like age, or height, or weight, or pics. Instead, they often create an entirely fictional persona -- including email addresses or instant message names which they immediately discard when their dishonesty is too obvious for their game to continue. My discussion here is meant to address intentional dishonesty -- not minor errors in profile text or minor discrepancies in answers given to questions. Surely, you guys understand the difference don't you? quote:
ORIGINAL: odysseyIndeed I belong to a web site that once you pick your birthyear out of the drop down and join the site you can't change it. I accidentally landed on 1978 instead of 1968 and did not realize it until several days later. I can't change it and it's not that big a deal to me because it isn't a site where my age would matter anyway. I have shared that site with people in the past to show them specific things I have done and like. If someone asks me about it I explain to them why but in general I don't think about it. What is to prevent a vindictive person who is angry I rejected him to use multiple fake accounts to report me as having lied about my age and give that site as 'proof'? What if I've gone up and down in my weight(by large margins, upwards of 100 pounds) many times and every site i've joined where I entered a weight has a vastly different one because of this? I'm sure I have profiles on sites i joined years ago i never go to much less update. What is to prevent a vindictive person who is angry I rejected him to use multiple fake accounts to report me as having lied about my weight and use those other sites as 'proof' just to get me on t his list ? Believe me it would be used for evil just as well as good and some genuine people would be genuinely disparaged. I don't think there is any way that a system could be set up on a FREE site that would combat this. quote:
ORIGINAL: pshornyguy Lady Leandra: (1) You raise very good points! (2) My question to you however, is why would a CM member specify other websites where they have profiles if those profiles do not correspond to their CM profile i.e there are materially significant differences in data or photos? (3) In the context of my discussion here, such discrepancies could be noted and would provide a CM member with an opportunity to present questions to the person he/she is chatting with such as: why are your pics significantly different on the other websites with your profiles that you told me about? OR why is your age on CM 32yo but on website #2 (which you created one year ago) you stated your age to be 25yo?
