I am sorry if this is off topic, but I was unable to find any other place where this would be more appropriate. I am having a technical issue. (Email-related.) The FAQ does not address it. So, I figured, perhaps this issue has been discussed in the forums, since others are bound to have had it before me. But there seems to be no place in the forums to discuss issues like this! Or is there one, and I just could not find it?

For things like that you contact support on the other side.

I have contacted support on the other side, and never received a reply. And the problem is not only other-side related; it is also related to the forums. I do not receive any email from collarme.com; not from the other side, nor from this side. So who knows, perhaps support *thinks* they replied to me, but their reply never arrived to me.

Here is the link to support, as it is often difficult for some to locate.
In the meantime, you might also try using the search feature in the top right corner here.
Typing in email may bring up previous issues that site administrators have addressed here.
Best of luck!

lol, why ask where you can ask a question, rather than just asking it? i guess you're being polite, which is nice. mods will be moving this thread anyway, prob to the "off topic" forum, which is a catch-all for your type of thread.

i don't think there's a tech fo, so yeah, you can contact support. make sure to ask them what board software or type is being used. if they can't answer your question, you can google the software version (E.g., "invision board mail help") to get answers right from the source (help or instruction manual).

welcome to CM!

For email on this side, do you have the correct settings, starting in My Profile? After that, you have to subscribes to the threads or forums for which you desire notifications.

m2. and if i understand you correctly, you don't seem to understand that the email is integrated, on both sides. just one system for both.

ensure you don't have the bulk filter set. look on top for the bulk mail button, and mail controls button.

Did you check the help section over there? http://www.collarme.com/personals/help.htm#11

Yes, hopefully they will move this to Off Topic.  (Which, btw, is one of the various things that can delay the overworked staff to getting to your problem.)

Go to the screen that kalikshama illustrated for you above.  Ensure that you have the correct email address listed and  that you have the box checked to send you an alert when you receive email.  The default setting has that option not selected.

I can't find that box on the collarchat side but here it is on the collarme side under Mail Controls:

Thank you very much for all your replies.

Yes, of course, I have made sure I have entered a valid address, and I have tested the address to make sure it receives email.

I have also checked that help section, but the only kind of mail problem it mentions is spam-filter related problems.

And I have nothing stupid configured under "Mail Controls". Just the check box to send me notifications.

Under what circumstances are you not getting the email you expect?

Under *any* circumstances. I never received any email from collarme.com whatsoever. Even when I click "send me my messages by email" I do not receive anything.

i answered you back. it might be lag or a server hang-up, can take several minutes. it also might be going to spam filter on your email side.

Did you hit the "go" button?

C-:= Come on people, I am a computer professional. This does not mean I may not have done something stupid, but let's just not waste time considering those particular kinds of difficulties that a n00b would perhaps face. Like not hitting the "go" button.

@mnottertail yes, I can exchange messages within CM. I just never receive any email notifications about them. Nor any email notifications about replies to my posts on the forums.

Oh, yes, and the problem is *not* spam. Nothing from CM can be found in my spam folder.

meh, i knew i shouldn't have bothered. it's you that's not articulating the exact problem here and in emails. and rather than say "nothing helped, thanks anyway", you react as you did. just wow. i wouldn't hire anyone who can't work in a team environment.

Sorry, I'm all out of suggestions for problems that only affect computer professionals.
