A contract would be rather short for us.....

me: serve, please and obey
him: be dominant

Endivius -> RE: Writ in blood...BDSM contracts (6/18/2012 2:19:48 PM)

What is your opinion on contracts between Master & submissive? I had one proposed to me that read like a business contract of a multi-national aquisition!

My opinion varies depending on when it is presented in the relationship. For example, if someone who barely knew me handed me one I'd laugh as I have no interest in a man who thinks women are fungible.

Some of the examples given above, however, seem perfectly reasonable.

You said "fungible". ONE OF MY FAVOURITEST WORDS EVAR!!

I like the idea *behind* a contract, in that writing a contract requires a lot of thought, and give and take (eep! a dom *compromise*?) and might take you down roads not thought of.

That said, what is the nature of the relationship? If this is the person I intend to wake up next to, I want to be *closer* to that person, not further away. For me, a written down "this is our intent" would create distance, and the even the faintest chance of "YOU SAID YOU WOULD" is something I want to avoid. If it's a servant, then yes, I do want some kind of codification of what the servant is going to do for me, and how, because anyone can be a servant, and I don't see that as a personal thing.

Using fast reply.

OK, first of all, you SUCK in your title choice.  I thought we were going to get all happy with a blood play thread.

Contracts?  Hey, if they make you happy, go for it.  Some people like that official feel.  If it's getting you wet or him hard, I say, have a party!

I said when I read this what is this Dom protecting theirself from? I have seen subs of Domme friends that have SAID this is what I want to be pushed to do but when pushed zapped all the way out and called police etc. I understand asimple contract but it sounds as tho this one locks you in even if you decide its no longer working.

It's a trope, it's a tool. If a contract makes you feel like everything is "official", and that improves the quality of your relationship, good, go for it. I do not think it has any intrinsic power however. It's like any other form of ritual.

What matters I clarity of expectations between a slave and a master.

If a contract is needed to offer both slides clarity then fine, personally I dont use them as find it easier to just explain things an guide the slave rather than write it down

Relationships develop from the start and grow, written contracts don't

Seraphinna -> RE: Writ in blood...BDSM contracts (6/26/2012 2:40:09 PM)

I would say its a lovely idea but doesnt always work out. Are you going to take legal action if the person pulls out or does not keep up their end of the bargain?
