I need to rinse my mind of the bad ones, what better way than to shift the gaze?

What is/are the best topic(s)/thread(s) you've read on these boards? Did they give you new insights? Please share! [:)]

fr-

i don't want to single out any topic as the best for me. i learn something from most of them, and lmfao too!

Several years ago, Resident Sadist wrote a post about cages. It really was an eye opener for me and I found it very interesting.

Aileen1968 -> RE: Good Topics (6/15/2012 5:34:36 PM)

Everything I've written has been great.

"A dominant dealing with guilt/conflicts of being a dominant."

And specifically, it was Kana's response to the thread that was so enlightening.

There have been so many threads over the years that have helped me as I worked to figure out where I fit and who/what I am as far as bdsm goes, too many to list really, but for sheer entertainment value I don't think anything can or has topped the tap tap tap thread.

kitkat105 -> RE: Good Topics (6/16/2012 1:21:09 AM)

I'm only new, but there have been some very good posts in General BDSM discussion as of late. I've really enjoyed the ones about obedience, power exchange, and general dynamics. I love reading about people's personal experiences because not only does it help me learn about 'this', but gives me the opportunity to then discuss it in the context of my own relationship.

Tap Tap Tap

That is all

You know...I know it has been suggested in the past to have the ability to "rate" either a posting or a poster.

How about rating a certain thread? (Like a thumbs up or something?) This way, no individual poster is being publicly scrutinized, no "Thumbs down" to put down the thread topic or starter. Just a "Thumbs Up" so that the most popular threads will be elevated to the top of whatever list there may be so that these types of questions would have answers?

Because to be honest, I'm curious, too. I remember we've tried starting this kind of thing a few times. Pam started a thread awhile back, but it seemed to be mostly more recent threads (save for Tap, Tap, Tap, which I still don't really see what all the fuss is about.)

I know we couldn't go back in posting dates and give threads the thumbs up (or could we...?), but I think it would be a nice feature going forward. Perhaps it's been suggested before.

amaidiamond -> RE: Good Topics (6/16/2012 6:13:38 AM)

Thing is though - a lot of the most popular threads simply because they are SO obscure end up getting closed due to trainwrecking so would that work?

MadAxeman -> RE: Good Topics (6/18/2012 9:26:34 AM)

I like to learn something new. There was a transgender thread that was fascinating a few months ago. The stuff they go through, how they are when in clubs or groups. How for many it's about identity. Rare people. They became more open as the rest of us showed interest and did not display prejudice, which is their daily diet. Unusual and brave people walking a difficult path the rest of us know little of.

Oh and the tits and arse threads.

My bad...

i was thinking of this too. Craigslist forums have this feature, and it's abused. i.e., some regulars may neg a post just because they don't like someone. one might say that's democratic. but what i'm saying is, it can be one more layer that can be nice, but also be not so nice.

also, i'm in favor of discussing things, esp when you disagree with someone. allowing anonymous negs gives someone an excuse to not engage. i think this is bad, because the best way to learn is to be amongst those who may disagree, and speak up about it.

I'm liking the Duckface/Bird pics thread and hope more of y'all make a contribution:

RemoteUser -> RE: Good Topics (6/20/2012 6:25:04 AM)

I'm tempted to duckface and make an incredibly stupid look to go with it.

kitkat105 -> RE: Good Topics (6/20/2012 6:29:11 AM)

I would, but I can't get my bathroom nearly messy enough to be a good stage. [;)]
