Since it's an election year here in the US.....

I'm curious if your Dominant directs for whom you vote.

I'm a Republican and he is a Democrat. He doesn't care who I vote for since he knows I vote issues not party in the general election. The only reason I'm listed as a Republican is you have to choose a party to vote in the primaries in my state

He's more conservative than I am, but does not direct me how to vote. We'll talk about political issues from time to time, and sometimes disagree, but he leaves my voting choices up to me.

He has not directed how I vote. If he did I'd tell him I didn't agree with him telling me how to vote.

I choose who I vote for. Voting is one of those things like spiritual beliefs that is so personal
(for me anyway) that I can't imagine allowing
someone to tell me how to go about it.
I've never had anyone tell me who to vote for
or what to think about an issue.
We agree to disagree.

No he doesn't. He allows me to vote in whichever way my heart feels. If one day he changes his mind, then I would vote his way if that's what he wants. We discuss politics quite often and we're usually on the same side for the most part so I trust his decisions.

I wouldn't have gotten involved with a Republican. And neither would he have. Since this is a small town, I'm more likely to know people running for local positions. So he'll ask me who to vote for in those positions. Highway Superintendent is always a big thing in rural areas.

Although I was eligible for it last year, this year is the first time I've registered and voted. As far as politics are concerned, my Master and I hold pretty identical views and opinions. The subject of him dictating who to vote for never came up with us, but if it did I would have no problem giving my vote to him (I would probably agree with his decision anyways.)

However, I didn't know too much about the local positions, and he knew slightly more about them than I did, so I asked him who I should vote for concerning those and he gave me the names--despite not knowing anything about them, those were who I put down on my ballet.

Same here. I don't really feel affiliated with either party entirely.

I'm a Demicrat, an active one and my political opinions make up a part of who I am.
I couldn't change my political outlook if
I wanted to.
My partner doesn't have to share my beliefs
but I couldn't be involved with someone
who doesn't respect my beliefs or is interested
in changing them.
If politics are to big of a wedge between us the
relationship will never work because we're
just to different and see the world in fundamentally different ways.
It's the same thing with spiritual matters.
I can't pretend to believe or go through the
motions of believing something I don't believe.
Nor could I ever reject my own spiritual
values or exchange them for someone elses.

Living where I live I overwhelmingly meet and
have been involved with men whose political
and religious beliefs are different than mine.
If I held out for a liberal democrat Buddhist
I might as well join a nunnery.
But I've never been involved with someone
whose beliefs were so extreme there was
no common ground or who didn't respect
my right to my own personal beliefs.
If our personal ethics clash there can't be
a relationship.
If someone held up telling me who to vote
for as a test of my commitment to them we
wouldn't be compatible. And I've never
encountered anyone who was interested
in doing so. Quite the opposite really, I tend
to get the viva la difference types.
I'm D/s not M/s so that might play a part
in things but there are no doubt D/s
submissives who would be fine with the
voting thing.

Unfortunately, we in Oz have to wait another year to give that insufferable embarrassment of a non popularly-elected female PM the heave-ho.

That said, the girl gets to own her own mind and philosophies on non relationship relevant issues. Welllll...., she gets to own her own mind on relationship things, too, but it's her arse on how she manages that day to day....

Focus.

Here in the UK it's up to smug git (AKA David Cameron) as to when we get a chance to vote again, although I am currently not owned it has always been a limit for me someone instructing me how to vote. I am very left-wing (totally admit it), I have been in the past a lay trade union representative and local government official so I'm used to a little autonomy on this subject. Should I meet a new Owner they'd need to understand that about me and accept me for being me. I don't mind if their politics and mine don't match up, it's easier if they do, but not essential, but I would require freedom of political thought and vote.

I would never tell My slaves how to vote, the Hubs wouldn't either.

No, He is not so arrogant as to think He has that right. We vote practically identically, however, since we agree on virtually every issue out there anyway. That compatibility is the glue that makes our little family work

Yes... Carol and I will discuss the candidates and then I'll make a decision who we are voting for. Honestly though, it's unlikely we'd see too far apart although in this election it may be different.

I believe only a control freak leaning real close to abuser would tell a person how to vote. Especially since our vote doesn't count in the general election for president.

What would be the purpose?

And then you'll have to allow her to be a big girl and go vote without you looking over her shoulder. Perhaps she'll vote for the candidate you chose. Perhaps she won't. No one but Carol will ever really know.

Reminds me of a story my Mom told me once about her first husband. He was an abusive, controlling jerk who actually "sold" her vote by accepting money from someone whom he assured that he could control her vote, saying she'd vote the way the person paid for. She sooooo didn't Go Mom!........luci

There are a lot more things than just the presidential vote going on.

Why would you be with someone if you can't trust them entirely to do as you say? I think it's funny when people will trust someone with their life when they play but don't trust them to do the tiny things. lol
