Freedom of speech and Censorship On CM

Say How you feel about it around CM

crazyml -> RE: Censorship (6/16/2012 2:26:45 AM)

Could you give an example of when censorship has occurred?

myotherself -> RE: Censorship (6/16/2012 3:17:32 AM)

As long as we don't break the law or break the cm rules we agreed to when we joined, I haven't seen any freedom of speech issues.

Sure, I have seen trainwreck threads perpetuated by clueless dickwads pulled over and quietly left to die by the side of the road, but again that's within the rules.

As crazyml said - examples please?

Exactly. CM can't have us talking about law breaking, how long do you think Big Brother would let CM exist if they allowed that? (Speaking of freedom of speech.)

CM does not allow bad mouthing someone else (though they give us a lot of leeway in the forums), explicit primary photos, advertising your website other than where designated. I suspect the OP got his cheesy primary pic pulled and is now having a hissy fit over it.

So not dom, dood.

lizi -> RE: Censorship (6/16/2012 7:26:20 AM)

What I think is happening here with this OP is partly a language barrier, partly having an affronted attitude, and partly a refusal to learn. In other words he is having some genuine trouble with comprehension going both in and out, but he is insisting that things fall within his own narrow view of what is right/wrong, and having a fit when others don't fall in line with what he wants or how he sees things. We all know people like this, if it's not exactly within their perimeters of acceptability then they immediately make loud noises about how wrong that is because of course, their way of thinking is the only way.

Good example is the nude profile pics that belong to others that he's been using and do not belong to him. He's had them pulled. He has been saying it's people reporting him, but a Mod even told him in his intro thread that copyrighted photos were not allowed as a site rule. Just seems like the guy is incapable of accepting or understanding what he doesn't want to see.

Deliena -> RE: Censorship (6/16/2012 7:29:06 AM)

yeah I guess it's the difference between regulation and censorship. CM is very open but it has some regulations about what we are and are not allowed to do. By the broadest definition this can been seen as censorship but only someone with a binary mindset would perceive it as such.

GreedyTop -> RE: Censorship (6/16/2012 7:38:03 AM)

CM is based in the U.S. CM is also NOT a State or Federally run website. Someone not actually familiar with the laws might think that this means that CM is, therefore, required to follow the COnstitution as far as free speech goes.

THis woud be wrong.

CM is a PRIVATELY OWNED site, therefore, the rules listed by CM (in other words, Terms of Service) are the ultimate authority, NOT the Supreme Court.

ok, that was a nutshell version, but I am pretty sure I have it covered...

ResidentSadist -> RE: Censorship (6/16/2012 7:49:04 AM)

this had something to do with General BDSM?

GreedyTop -> RE: Censorship (6/16/2012 7:49:42 AM)

nah, got moved....

kalikshama -> RE: Censorship (6/16/2012 7:58:57 AM)

This site has rules, which you agree to follow when you sign up and post. If you don't understand the letter you received from the moderators, post it here and I'll be happy to give it my interpretation (I'm not a mod) or email them back with questions. I suggest you refrain from complaints.

You've been putting a lot of random stuff in General BDSM. Do put it in Off Topic instead.

SassySarijane -> RE: Censorship (6/16/2012 8:04:25 AM)

Generally when one reads and follows the rules and guidelines, they don't have issues OP. Try it and you might have a much better experience here. Just a thought.

Thank you kalikshama
I will do that ...
I appreciate your help

ResidentSadist -> RE: Censorship (6/16/2012 8:05:36 AM)

I see. I also see a troll barely capable of minor annoyance much less anarchy. Perhaps his dick pic was his only good feature or did he overate its value like he overates his other capabilities? Well, despite his motives or capabilities, the op is a valid one. Here is my answer:

I'm not so big on Censorship, but I think enforcing the TOS is better than weeding through a forum full shit posted by a bunch of 12 year olds yelling racial slurs and talking about their wee wee like you are.

It is annoying having a post pulled. But it is easy enough to convey impact within the TOS if you take a minute to write around it. I think the quality of the forums is worth the extra minute and I think CM has a viable TOS. God bless the mods for enforcing it, even if it means my own post gets nailed now and then.

angelikaJ -> RE: Censorship (6/16/2012 8:09:34 AM)

Fcl,

You have had 10 posts pulled.

Now instead of coming to terms with how your actions may have brought this on yourself, you are acting all butt hurt.

There is nothing wrong with the fact that you initially did not understand how what you posted was against the terms of service.
That is ignorance (in the literal not knowing sense of the word).
However, after that, to insist you are right?

That makes you someone who doesn't accept responsibility for his actions and one who won't admit when he is wrong.
In a dominant partner, that to me would point you as someone who would probably not be safe to trust anyone's being with.

I am sure you will disagree with that assessment: you can't prove it with words alone, your actions have to match them.

Go on with your ways ...
cutting off others from saying what they want

I will keep saying what I want the way I want
reflecting my own self out to reach what I am seeking here

Knowing Who I am

Not gonna waste more time arguing with people like you

Peace Out!

Thank You for Your Advice kalikshama& SassySarijane
I will try to keep your words in mind
Thanks a lot [;)]

about CM freedom of speech
you dont need to delete someone's post to do that

Here's what you're not understanding. CM is privately owned site. That means they get to make the rules. They could delete every post or ban you, if they felt like it. That's their perogative, whether you like it or not. If you do not like how this site is run, feel free to go out and start your own site.

And the Mods will keep removing your posts when you violate TOS....

ResidentSadist -> RE: Censorship (6/16/2012 8:21:15 AM)

Well, I'm glad that's over.

FemalecumLover -> RE: Censorship (6/16/2012 8:25:23 AM)

Dear OsideGirl

I am separating between the rules ... and the way other members reacts
I am a professional worker ... I know there is rules to follow
-though for me it is sort of contradicting here sometimes-
I will get back to kalikshama about that

but cutting off people is not done by moderators it is done by other members
so when I was saying

quote:

I will keep saying what I want the way I want

I meant I will present myself the way I see proper
regardless how other members think

respect

outhere69 -> RE: Censorship (6/16/2012 8:30:44 AM)

I am not gonna give respect / attention for those who took it personally
Objective Discussion has rules too :D
