defiantbadgirl -> When will decision on Affordable Care Act be announced? (6/17/2012 3:40:01 PM)

Will it be on the third Monday of June, some time later this week, next week right before they leave for their break, or will it be announced after they have all left the building for safety reasons? Whatever they decide, there's going to be a lot of pissed off people. Obviously no one knows for sure, but what's your best guess on when the Supreme Court's decision on the Affordable Care Act will be announced?

Since Kelo, I don't bother at trying to guess what the SC is going to do. After the President's comments suggesting they should just act as a rubber stamp on Obamacare, I'd like to see them slap the whole thing down 8-1.

Soon, I hope. I can't think of another decision from the court, at least within my lifetime, that will play such an immediate and direct role in a Presidential election.

When this case is shot down it might actually help Obama. Companies might start to hire again when they know Obama Care is unconstitutional and they won't have to deal with the uncertanty of future costs.

My guess is, for safety reasons, the decision will be announced on the last day. Then the judges will enjoy their vacation and hope everyone has calmed down by the time they return.

Do you really think that these judges worry about their safety when ruling on a case ?

There was no violence when Obamacare was passed. No reason to believe there will be violence if it is not overturned. Now, if it is overturned... maybe they might need to hide. You know how the leftists can be.

Many from both sides have been pretty fired up about it.

There was violence around the time of the vote.... both before and after.

You're kidding right?

For some reason, I have June 20th set as the date they were going to announce their decision. I don't know when their break is, but, there aren't too many days left in June for them to announce, regardless.

It will be the week of the 25th.   One of the last things before recess.

Latest polls show the law in disfavor with the public... and 1/3 of those not in favor feel it doesnt go far enough.

According to the CNN/ORC International survey, 51% of Americans say they oppose the health care law, while 43% say they favor it. It’s important to note, however, that of those who disagree with the law, only a third oppose it because it’s too liberal, while one in six oppose it because it doesn’t go far enough.

18. As you may know, a bill that makes major changes to the country's health care system became law
last year. Based on what you have read or heard about that legislation, do you generally favor or
generally oppose it?

And companies might start to hire again when they know its a go and they can move ahead accordingly.

Or drilling Senators through the head, come to that: it wasn't a conservative who shot Gifford, was it?

More like the rioters, or mad bombers, of the Occupist fringe, Muse. Thank God they have been typically incompetent lefties, so far.

Complete nutcase, Moon. He could have fixated on anyone. Given the shit that has been going on with our Secret Service here, we should all be thankful he didn't have a letter from President Obama, stirring up the voices in his head.

For those who can only see cheap political points in such a horrific event, there is actually a better case to be made for him as a casual sort of leftie, before madness took him completely. Medicated, he'd have probably been an excellent candidate for the Occupists.

The only issue I have with the wording of the question, is the use of the word, "liberal." That can bring in a touch of politics into the question. A better way to state it (and, this is simply the follow-up question), would be to contrast it as "going too far" versus "not going far enough."

In the end, however, it doesn't matter what the public opinion is of the Act. It can be un-Constitutional whether it's popular or not popular. And, I'm not exactly sure what people know about the law. Lefties will only tout the positives while righties will only tout the negatives. Most of the time, people are going to fall back to one of two default positions: 1. Which party to I usually align with, or 2. What is going to get me more?

Here is an article about a Pew poll.

    quote:

"The only winner in this poll is ignorance: The "most dispiriting" part of the Pew poll is that two years after its passage, only 18 percent of respondents claim to understand the law well, versus 31 percent who don't understand it well or at all, says Greg Sargent at The Washington Post. Broadly speaking, the less people know about the law, the more they want the court to throw it out. Maybe that's bad messaging by Democrats, or "the Right's very successful sowing of confusion," but if the Supreme Court kills ObamaCare, it seems few people will know what they're missing.

I don't agree with the Sargent's analysis of why people don't know, but it does go to show that if only 18% of respondents claim to know the law well, wtf have the other 82% been doing? That is a very sad commentary on our Citizenry

servantforuse -> RE: When will decision on Affordable Care Act be announced? (6/19/2012 5:33:50 AM)

How can anyone claim know this law well. Nancy Pelosi didn't even know what was in it.
