JUST...................................... wait for it.................................... WOW! darwinism in action? all the guy had to do was move two plastic tables to unplug the machine, which would have been my third reaction (if i couldn't open the door or press off button).

Heh...my daughter's boyfriend sent us pictures while we were away from him and his friends, putting each other in the washer. lol I just said to my daughter, "when the "mom" is away, the boys will play" because she's like their mom lol I understand why people would be upset over this though but I've seen lots of parents just goofing off with their kids doing stuff they thought was ok only to have it backfire. No intentional harm meant just dumb luck.

hmm...............can anybody say child endangerment????? what I don't get is why people do really stupid things where there are surveillence cameras!!!

Actually, it seems that the parents knew nothing about it. http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/local&id=8673022 I am glad the kid is ok. My folks owned a laundromat when I was a kid, 5 to 6 yo, and I played in the washers and dryers. I am sure the dude was not even thinking about the chance that the door would lock and the spin cycle start. Hopefully, it will remind us all that, sometimes, doing something that seems like innocent fun can lead to near disaster.

Oh, that's right - these were the sitters that did this. I had forgotten about this. Karmastic - some of these new front loading washers will lock once they start their cycle, just like a self-cleaning oven does, and not unlock until they are finished. Helps prevent the door from getting opened while the machine is full of water.

Let's hope the fool who did the deed never has any kids of his own to potentially abuse.

I would imagine, from the reaction that guy had, that he will be super paranoid and over protective and careful of any children he is around for the rest of his life. I just think it was a moment of play that went really bad, I do not think abuse or meanness was on his mind at all.

It was the unidentified male friend of the baby's father's girlfriend, who was right there. Did she have time to stop him? It happened quickly, but... Nice quick action on the part of the store employee.

My son and his friends used to play hide and seek. We discovered they were using the dryer as a hiding place when I opened it up to switch the load. I'm surprised there isn't a stop button. It's not uncommon to discover you left out a sock and want to add it after it starts.
