Ok, so another thread asked if we have a problem here on the forum side of the site. There have been a rash of recurring problems with the "Scroller" which cause some annoying page-load delays or even page time-outs. What say you? Do we need the scroller? Voice your opinion for the web-head gods that maintain the site

I never even look at the scroller. I didn't realize it was broken until this thread.

I did not realize it was broken, but I do enjoy it when I notice it, it leads me to threads I might not go to otherwise.

I wavered between "Turn it off forever - Problem solved" but chose "Turn it off until the problem is solved" because I have observed that the number of posts go way down when it's not working so people do rely on it. Perhaps collarchat regulars could be trained to live without it but I don't know how you'd get people from CM over here without it - that's certainly how I arrived. But if it is causing the intermittent problems (I was not able to log on until 4:30 yesterday), do shut it off until it's fixed.

I voted for turn it off until it is fixed. Personally, I love the scoller, it's what brought me to this side of CM, which I far prefer. So I think it's essential to encouraging new blood on the board. HOWEVER, I've been having issues getting in for the last few weeks, with some days being better than others. (It's just the forum side, not the meat market side. And I'm here for the forums.) If this keeps up too many people will lose interest in the forums all together. In the last few years there has been a steady drain of people moving over to FL. I don't think CM can afford that attrition AND have a screwed up scroller with time outs and people having issues getting in.

I voted turn it off til the problem is solved. And if it can't be solved maybe it should just be gotten rid of. I had trouble getting in yesterday and today. I don't read the scroller habitually but it does catch my eye enough for me to think it's worth keeping around if it isn't causing problems.

I don't need it, but it is something I enjoy when it is working. but, if given the choice between the scroller working and the site working, I would have to choose the site.
