You may recognize Capt. Steven Hill from one of the GOP debates. He was the gay army oficer who asked a question of the candidates and got booed for his service.

Prince Nelson can drop his last name and eventually change his name to some dumbass glyph but a combat veteran cannot blend his name with that of his spouse?

I'm not sure The Artist Formerly Known As Popular ever legally changed his name to squiggle, so there might be better comparisons out there.
(No argument with any of the rest, though.)

Cher did change her name legally to just Cher supposedly.
Dropping her maiden name and Bono and Allman.
Captain Hill should be able to change his name
legally as he wishes.

Originally I thought why don't they just end-run around that and simply get their names changed. Then I saw their actions as fighting for the equity of their marriage being on a par with hetero marriage. I hope the judge rules in their favor.

FR--

The have been several cases in Ohio involving denied name changes, even for folks not married (they wanted to promote family unity.)

It's not for nuttin' that Ohio's known for "guns, God, and gays"!

Why do you ask such a fucking asinine question, as if to ask something serious, if anything regarding politics could be considered "serious,"?

Are you really that much a fucking asshole?

Do you propose to present the audience with any semblance of a brain, here?

Sorry, but I'm going back to incomprehensible plot movies here, so as to move a step up from your sorry world.

I MEAN, REALLY.

What a sad state.

WTF?

If you want to engage in a flame war could you try to be at least a little more intelligible?

Sorry, but the whole premise, incomprehensible as it was, caught me off-guard.

I despise politics, in the first place, so pardon my disregard and whatever response thereupon.

Why would any thinking person actually keep up with this? That'[s all I'm asking.

This question has been asked many centuries and millineia before.

Please do not mistake your lack of awareness in this regard as any "arrogance" on my part, it is an ongoing process, and I would never proclaim to be more ahead than others in this venture.

I'm assuming you are drunk/stoned and will eventually sober up.

When you do keep in mind this thread was about a gay veteran who simply wants to change his name so he and his spouse will have the same last name and a court was being unnecessarily difficult about his request.
