The Obama Event Registry

Talk about out of touch and narcissistic! I will be so glad when this clown is voted out in November...

I gotta admit, that blows my mind. I wonder who thought this was a good idea?

Yachtie -> RE: This really is a new low. (6/22/2012 4:44:42 PM)

But... "it's a great way to support the president on your big day". [8|] One could even make the big day a fund raiser. It would be really selfish to have one's birthday, wedding or anniversary be about themselves and not Obama. I could really see his supporters get behind this. [8D]

Death donations could be included too. What better than Obama? Some charity or something?[:-]

Someone who obviously has no clue.

I didn't think these guys could sink low enough to suprise me, but they have.

Owner59 -> RE: This really is a new low. (6/22/2012 7:22:16 PM)

The jealousy and envy wreaks of conservative......

Jesus.... is this what they`re calling  "low"......?

Some cons are going to need fresh Depends hourly if this is what`s upsetting them.......

TheHeretic -> RE: This really is a new low. (6/22/2012 7:30:23 PM)

So you'll be directing all your birthday gifts to the President's re-election campaign then, Owner59?

Now if somebody tried to donate what I like for my birthday to him, the Secret Service, and First Lady would both object strongly. Well, these days, the Secret Service might be down. [8|]

erieangel -> RE: This really is a new low. (6/22/2012 7:42:13 PM)

Wow!!

While I find this rather tasteless and will be surprised if it actually raises any money, it is rather unique.

Winterapple -> RE: This really is a new low. (6/22/2012 7:48:24 PM)

FR
What's the big deal? A lot of people who have causes
that they believe in do this. Kids ask that
their sweet sixteen or graduation gifts be a
donation of some kind, I know several green
couples who asked for donations to their causes
instead of gifts or for gifts that support
green businesses.
If a person or a couple feels strongly about the president
being re-elected why shouldn't they let it be
known they'd consider a donation to his
campaign as a good gift? Is it really all that
different than a Amazon wishlist or registering
for china and glassware. People have different
interests and priorities.
A new low? Seriously? No, just a new twist on
gift giving. How depraved these people are
to prefer something like this to a toaster
or a giftcard to eat at Olive Garden.
The Democrats get a great deal if not the
bulk of their donations from small donations.
I think I heard somewhere that the average
donation to the Obama campaign was five dollars.
I'm sure this isn't true for Willard. I believe
he was just at a BBQ where some deep pockets
paid for the privilege of whispering in his
ear as the steaks sizzled.

Winterapple -> RE: This really is a new low. (6/22/2012 8:04:37 PM)

You could take the stance that registering for gifts is
in itself low and tacky. It came out of the acknowledgement
that when a couple gets married people are going
to give them gifts and most people would prefer
to give people gifts they actually like.
So, Aunt Thelma asks you what you want for
your birthday and you say this. She's under
no obligation to get you this or any other
gift. If she can't bring herself to do it because
it goes against her personal convictions you get
a card with five dollars taped in it instead.
And the world continues to spin on it's axis.

So in your opinion, a bride & groom should tell their guests to donate to the President instead of their favorite charity, or cause like the Salvation Army, or Peta, or the Humane Society, because Obama is a much worthier cause...

You guys kill me, it's not enough that the President can fly out to California and charge people thousands of dollars a plate for shitty food, now you don't see anything wrong with his campaign asking people to give up their wedding gifts for the man.

This link is now scarily prophetic...

JstAnotherSub -> RE: This really is a new low. (6/22/2012 8:53:00 PM)

Well, I am gonna register at Lowes, cause I be needing some tools for yardwork. I shall let yall know how to donate to me ASAP.

And, I promise, I will do just as much for you as Obama will.

;o)

Owner59 -> RE: This really is a new low. (6/22/2012 9:00:05 PM)

You cons can steal the idea.......[:D].......why change now?

This isn`t the 1st innovation the cons have whined about.

I just signed on to "Dashboard"......a web page that organizes house to house campaign volunteers and other gatherings/events for President Obama in my area.

"There are three types of people in this world: those who make things happen, those who watch things happen and those who wonder what happened."
- Mary Kay Ash [:D]

Karmastic -> RE: This really is a new low. (6/22/2012 9:52:41 PM)

oh gosh, here we go with whiny shill partisan politics :(

there's nothing wrong with that campaign, and it's certainly not a new low.

dude, i want the minute back it took me to check out the link and set you straight.

Winterapple -> RE: This really is a new low. (6/22/2012 10:16:34 PM)

Oh, Rob it's only scary when the other side does it.[;)]
My experience with couples who ask for
donations instead of gifts is they don't feel
like they are giving up anything.
They may already have all the material
things they need and don't want to
be piled on by a bunch of stuff they don't
want. So they let their guests know of
various causes and things they support
and the guests choose or get them a
blender anyway.
I never said the Obama campaign was
worthier than any other cause they might
name. But it isn't sinister or crazy that people
who hold the conviction that the country will
be better off with Democrat as president
would see it as a worthy cause.
I assume you believe it will be a disaster if
the republican isn't elected. Is it so hard
for you to believe others feel differently?
The right tries to attribute any support
for Obama as the cult of personality not
concern for the direction of the country
because only the right cares about the country.
So a guest gives five dollars to the Obama
campaign(not the man himself) and ten
dollars to the Humane Society how is that
scary?
If a gift registry isn't in of itself offensive
why can't people list what they want to list?
If you believe it matters who is president,
if you haven't fell into the fallacy that there
is no difference between the parties and
who the president is has no bearing on your
life you might be willing to give up a blender
or two.
Both candidates have fundraisers.
Romney was just at a BBQ with donors.
This is just another attempt at corrupting
a benign something into a sinister
something.
Now Jim Jones Obama is making them give
up their wedding presents for him...oh, oh
it's so scary...vote for Romney... soon
Obama will take everyones wedding presents
...scary...it will be the end of the world...
Who's scary now?

I don't care what side of the political fence one is on (or the party affiliation of any politician), that's fucking stupid!

So let's see... Obama supporters (no pun intended) would be that last group, right?

OTOH, he could go the route of higher integrity and just get Diebold and Fla. judges to do the job and save the rest of us the trouble.

Worked well for the last pres.

Yeah, we're all in with that "not sinking to a new low" thing here, sure enough.

Well I would suggest you lend them some of yours, but the way you carry on here, I think you probably need every pair you can get your hands on.
