As we head into the next election in a few months, its generally understood somethings will be said and thought of that are not quite true, but the facts are there to show otherwise. That will not be the case in this next election (nor future elections if things keep on track). A media source known as "The Young Turks" featured two things that showed up on "The Sift" as we call it (www.videosift.com). TYT has a reputation of being fairly leaning liberal, but does a decent job of getting the facts out (which I've checked up from time to time). Recently they had a show (which the two links below are a part of) regarding the depth of understood facts against the beliefs of Americans as determine by political party (Democrat & Republican). Unfortunately, it doesnt present anything knew for most of the liberal and moderates on this forum; since often we are the ones explaining to the conservatives why their beliefs are not factual nor true (i.e. my rant towards MSLA on the thread "Romneys Unfortunate Truth' post #26).

It seems time and again, we are having to correct the 'GOP Misinformation Machine' that tells conservatives complete and utter nonsense. We wonder why they do not take it as a hint to check the information they are hearing against the reality of that information (and the source it comes from). This 'machine' is set up to speak to conservatives not in an educated manner but treat them like 6th graders (both education and maturity). The first video does explain that yes, conservatives can cook, clean, do jobs, even walk like normal people; but desire in some unknown reasoning to become as dumb and retarded on the facts and evidence as possible. And 'no' the word 'retarded' in this fashion has NOTHING to do with those folks who actually *DO* have a mental handicap!

64% of Republicans Believe Obama [was] Born Outside of [the] US

63% of Republicans STILL Think Iraq Had WMDs

How do we have decent, honest, and good discussions on ANYTHING in American politics & religion, when Republicans believe stuff so far off from reality as to be considered 'looney'? Conservatives, whom vote heavily Republican are not much better (in fact, they are worst). One of the videos (I believe the second one) states that about 40% of Republicans watch the news very often. But I find that just hard to believe is true given all the information online, in books, from the news, in papers, etc etc etc, that one could look up for facts on both "Is President Obama an actual US Citizen?" and "Were there WMDs in Iraq?". That this 40% believes they are so well informed on topics and YET display complete ignorance and foolishness. There was study not to long ago that stated US Citizens that got 'no news' was MORE informed than those that watched 'FOX News'.

The Founding Fathers believes the citizens would stay educated on the facts and evidence as the country grow and accomplished greater feats. Apparently, they forgot to state somewhere that this applied specifically to those of the conservative philosophy!

Excellent! Another thing for Obama to worry about five months before his election...

No, he is aware of the drooling imbiciles, the birthers, the tinfoilers, the shithouse lawyers.

I think he wipes his ass with televisions tuned to Faux Nuze.

Jon Stewart shows examples of the misinformation machine every week, most recently regarding immigration reform:

Stewart: Republicans huge hypocrites on immigration

Tuesday night on “The Daily Show,” host Jon Stewart took on the overwhelmingly negative reaction on the part of Republicans to President Barack Obama’s Friday immigration reform announcement.

Republicans like Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), omnipresent Sunday talk show guest Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), and former Governor Tim Pawlenty (R-MN) chided the president for not having moved on this issue sooner, claiming that Obama had majorities in both houses of Congress and should have been able to pass the DREAM Act without having to result to this kind of unilateral decision-making. Stewart rolled news footage of December 2010 when the DREAM Act stalled out in Congress due to a Republican filibuster, underlining the hypocrisy in the Republicans’ complaints about the president’s failure to pass legislation that they killed.

Another Republican talking point about Friday’s decision by the president has been that he is acting unilaterally in an area that requires some form of Congressional oversight and that, with his move on immigration, Obama acted more like a king than a president. This was just as easily dispensed with when Stewart pointed out that President George W. Bush (R) took similar action when he issued an executive order granting amnesty to 3,500 Liberians fleeing the unrest in that country in September of 2007.

“All hail King George the Bush!” quipped Stewart, adding that similar policy decisions have been made by President Ronald Reagan (R), President George H. W. Bush and President Bill Clinton.
