So with the cactus... do you parboil it to get the skin off? I'm not a fan of cactus, but I'm intrigued.

Lots of things are really not suited to grilling as is, like mixed veg/meat kebabs, unless you like charred raw veg, in which case have at it.

The key is the size of the chunks and the heat of the grill. I generally keep the pieces smallish, and let the coals burn down quite a bit. It also helps that I like the meats I tend to kabob pretty rare.

Yep. I always try to keep the coals on one side of the grill, so I can do the veggies on the side without direct heat. My fav things, besides dead animal, are squash and vidalia onions and any kind of tomato.

There is another favorite. Tonight, I fired up the charcoal, and grilled hot dogs. That's it. Just a single pack of dogs. I may have spent more on the heat than I did on the meat. Dammit, though, that's the way they taste best

With prickly pear cactus you either cut out or scrub off the spines, cut the skin off around the edge and then treat it as a vegetable. But don't try and take all the skin off, it's basically just green goo underneath.

The most unusual thing you've grilled. Moose burgers i had no clue that they had almost no fat and the stuck to the grill( made good moose chili instead)

The most common thing you grill. Steak (fast easy and always good)
