Can you show me where I said that? A PERIOD OF TIME joe... Read before you respond. Lets look at your original post.... quote:
ORIGINAL: subrob1967 And it's also funny that progressives ignore the little fact that the Dems had control over the check writing for a period of that time, and could have stopped the war before it started by just voting NO... Poor progressives, can't even get their own Caucasus under control. The Afghanistan War started on October 7, 2001. The Iraq War started on March 20, 2003. Both of these dates took place DURING a Republican controlled Congress AND White House. So, did the Democrats control EITHER the House or the Senate on Oct 7th, 2001 or March 20th, 2003? Even before both those dates, as Congress would have been required to authorized then, President George W. Bush's desire to place US Troops into either theater of war. Did the Democrats control either side of the isle before those two dates, subrob? No, the Republicans did, with the Democrats holding a minority in both. Due to that arrangement of seats, the Democrats could not really have sold America on the idea of not going to war. You might recall back in 2001, that a person called Osama bin Ladan had attacked the USA just a month before and most Americans were still quite upset over everything. Most Americans at that time wanted blood! The Iraq war was solded to the USA over false information that was not obtained until AFTER we had been there for a few months. If the Democrats and the American people knew that before we went into it, would we have gone? In fact, the Iraq War was written with a blank check. We borrowed every penny to pay for that war, including the costs for the aftermath. Oh, SR, can you tell me if Congress declared war on either country?
