But, I hark back to the 70s and remember the homies from the projects who were so poor they had to wear big brother's hand me downs that were four to six sizes to big for them.

Now embarrassing necessity has become a fashion statement... and the real gangstas are laughing their ass off at the silly white boys with the saggy pants.

Rumors were wrong.

The "style" is known as "jailing."  When the gangbangers did time, they weren't given belts to hold up their pants, and upon release it became a status symbol of having done time.  Sadly, it took hold, and young kids now think it is "cool."
