I sometimes think that would like to know you in person Marini

Happy Independence Day

I like to shoot off my shotguns and rifles and pistols into the ground on Independence Day, they make a much louder "booms" and its perfectly legal where I live

Our rockets sometimes bring the police around though

I wasn't taliking about attacks. I was talking about the patriotic celebration of the birthday of this great nation being interrupted by partisan bullshit.

Who was the first (and only) to defile this celebration of the sacrifice of our forefathers by doing that?

I'll give you 3 guesses and the first 2 don't count.

Well, I kind of live out in the country, so its not that big a thang as they say

The kid playing the banjo lives a little further out though, if you know what I mean

The guns are just fun, nobody feels threatened or anything

And I am always perfectly sober, I never drink or otherwise get "all fucked up"

Its just fun, especially for the younger ones in the group. I will be 50 this year, not everything is as thrilling as it once was

Left, Right, Conservative, Liberal, Moderate, Extreme Left or Right, etc.

Don't most of us LOVE our country, and want what we think is best?

The problem is we don't agree with what we think is best for our country!

I do love the country but my earnest hope is that freedom, liberty and independence are still strong and doing well, 236 years from now. We will always have the fourth day of the seventh month, but will we always be free?

As long as you are careful, and not drunk, I guess it's okay.
As we get older, we can always find things to be thrilled about.

That is my hope and prayer too.

I also like the way the Book of Common Prayer puts it:

Almighty God, who hast given us this good land for our

I personally believe there is a little bit of "god" in all of us and in everything, and in many ways personal spiritual beliefs in practice work out to be much the same as Christians and others believe

With that said

Nice prayer dc, all good goals and ideals to work toward, and I am with you.

Ignoring your personal attacks... What do you think they sacrificed their lives for, and how does advocating for vigilance over our freedom and our liberty and our fierce independence on this day defile said "celebration of the sacrifice of our forefathers"

I am just curious as to your opinion of how that works

If we cant enjoy a civil discussion on this day about what Independence day means to us personally, if we are to limit ourselves to a shallow politically correct repetition of some sort of "happy fourth day in July" mantra... Is there really a reason for the season any more?

Watched 1776 with my cousins and marveled afresh at what an awesome movie it is. First saw it in the theater as a kid, and it's stood the tests of both time and repeated viewings.
