If a woman's b/f slaps her around but she refuses to press charges the cops have no choice in the matter they must arrest the b/f...so why do you need the victims permission in this case???is it because you feel he is a punk and not really deserving of all of he rights and immunities you and other citizens enjoy?

Because it's a he said/he said situation, and if I didn't witness the battery, and the victim doesn't press charges, what exactly should I arrest him for?

Domestic violence laws do not require a cop to witness that assault either... its a he said/he or she said kinda deal.

In a domestic violence case in TN, with the law written as it is, if there's a call, someone is going to jail whether charges are pressed or not.
If an officer sees so much as a scratch or a popped shirt button, that's probable cause even if the aggrieved party specifically says they don't want charges.

My point is that criminal charges can be filed based on information and belief, and that your excuse about the video not being sufficient evidence for that information and belief aren't offered in Good Faith.

Your point is moot, and a straw argument. Trayvon wasn't alive to press charges, the union thug survived the hankie in his mouth... Perhaps in your fucked up world, we should treat all crimes equally? Arrest everyone on suspicion of a crime, because I KNOW you committed at least ONE crime today.

Supidity abounds whenever you post. Kings case ONLY took off when TV stations showed the beating on the news. The case also blows apart your theory that cops watching an assualt will charge those involved.

Just pointing out that different places have different laws.

ETA, what would you have done if the union guy had responded by stomping a mudhole in his ass? (prob would have been my reaction)
