.1 mA for only a fraction of a second across the heart muscle (that's directly across the heart muscle, not across the entire body) can stop it or cause fibrillation, the current causes disruption of the signals that control the heart. A cattle prod, or violet wand, or whatever, are designed to deliver high voltage shocks, that do not deliver high currents. Screwing around with them, or making your own doohickey is too dangerous to risk. A high power cattle prod is also dangerous, it's designed for cows (~1/2 ton +) not humans (~150 lbs or so), not guaranteed to kill, but potentially dangerous. It's also been found that in high stress (like, perhaps, a bondage scene) situations electric shock is more likely to stop your heart (it's why Tasers never kill any test subjects, but occasionally kill a suspect the police tase). Play with sparks all you want if that's your thing, but do be careful, and don't do anything stupid.
