I doubt rather seriously that the US is ready to attack,(politically, not militarily) had the US wished to, the timing was perfect when it started and they could have put a coalition together to do so. Much like Lybia, they have no desire to lead the attack in another Middle Eastern Country, the populace would not appreciate the efforts, and it is an ELECTION YEAR!
Elections trump desire to place a US friendly regime in place. Political reality is so much more heavily considered when a sitting President is up for re-election.
