Washington (CNN) -- House Republicans launched an all-out assault Tuesday against President Barack Obama's signature health care reform law, holding a series of committee hearings and other events ahead of a planned vote Wednesday on repealing the measure.

The vote will be the latest of more than 30 House GOP efforts to undermine the 2010 Affordable Care Act, including previous Republican-led moves to repeal the measure or cut funding for various provisions.

Any House repeal effort is sure to die in the Democratic-led Senate, and the White House made clear Obama would veto such a measure.

Story at CNN

Without the Senate or the votes to override a veto, is this anything more than "political theater," to borrow MM's fine phrase?

Is there really nothing more pressing for the House of Representatives to tackle?

mnottertail -> RE: GOP's 31st (?) Effort to Repeal the ACA (7/10/2012 7:23:18 PM)

There is, but the profound ineptitude of the teabaggers is staggering.

Not a thing, since the tea party and republicans don't seem to care about unemployment, the economy, tax issues, etc.

The circus has got to stop!!

It's theater they're going to try and keep running through election day.
But the people who are buying tickets
are the ones who already agree with them.

But 31 times?  And people talking about fiscal responsibility and waste in government and don't see that they are the perpetrators of the idiocy?

Christ, they shot that guy in new york 41 times, lets give it a rest party of ineptitude.

I hear the sound of decent repubs and conservatives anal sphincters puckering in horror at the performances put on by their leaders.
The others are clearly off the edge of rationality rabid doomsayers and prognostications that have little to do with reality or fact.

I think people are sick of hearing about it.
My impression is that most people are
going to accept the Courts decision and
get on with their lives.

It's going to be interesting to see how
much Willard is going to expound on it.
Before the Court ruling he was saying
that if it passed overturning it would
be his first act as president.

Wags have produced a list of things
Willard has promised will be his first
act as president.

The Repubs are their own worst enemy.
And they haven't even had their
convention yet. They always manage
to alienate and scare the shit out of
segments of the voting population with
their creepy conventions.

If they turn this one over to the
paranoids and the haters they're
kneecapping Willard before the
Dems even have a go.

Tell Congress it's time to move on!

You might think that after last week's Supreme Court ruling upholding Obama's health care law, the right-wing would get the message that health care reform is here to stay.

But no. Instead, conservatives in Congress are planning to vote to repeal health care tomorrow. Again.

Tomorrow's vote is just another example of conservatives' obsession with ignoring the real issues—like the economy and jobs—in favor of political attacks. Just think of the last year—they've repeatedly attacked healthcare, reproductive choice, fair pay, and even the Violence Against Women Act.

It's time to send a message to Congress to move on. To stop wasting time attacking women's rights, health care, and other crucial programs, and actually focus on what this country needs: new jobs, a stronger economy, and progress toward the future.

Our message to Congress:

Stop wasting time trying to repeal health care. It's here to stay. Move on to the real issues facing our country—like creating jobs and improving the economy.

Yes, conservatives have *NO* idea how to handle such serious, complex, and complicated subjects in America. We've seen the caliber of lame ideals generated by conservatives on this forum, day after day on subjects like 'Climate Change', 'US Debt', 'US Budget', 'Health Care for all Americans', and many others. Every single one of their economic theories have been proved to be incorrect and false (since the Trickle Down Theory should have reached the poor after 35+ years, right?). There are plenty of conservatives that can not handle a rational discussion on most subjects. For example, the 2nd Amendment. Need I explain further? I doubt it, as your intelligent enough to imagine how that conservation would go.

You want to send a message to the GOP? Vote Democrat. Since the Democrats right now seem to have the monopoly on persons whose mental and emotional level is that of an adult (compared to the 6th grader persona of most Republicans).
