For the first time since 1949, the United States exported more gasoline, heating oil and diesel fuel last year than it imported, the Energy Department reported today.

Might want to double check and see if he uses diesel.

Slamming someone for buying fuel that we export is ridiculous in comparison to someone who states he is the best choice for President while admitting he is hegding his bets elsewhere on the globe.

Nothing wrong with decrying whether or not "gas" is the same as "oil"....the assumption is when someone tells you we're a "net importer of fuel", most people read that as "we're finally over the hump...off of the Middle East's tit".

We're not.

We still import massive amounts of oil. More than we (currently) manufacture or produce.

We are not free from the edicts of the oil exporting nations.

I actually never said he was the best choice for Prez anywhere...in ANY posts (regards Romney OR Obama)....I'm not sure if that's even true (I quit voting since Gore won with 500,000 more votes than Bush, proving without question that neither my, nor your votes means shit, so I actually don't give a fuck anymore...I voted for Bush....dumb ass me...but I actually believed that a vote of the people actually meant something....and Gore {I was under the impression anyway} was MY Prez)....but one thing's for damn certain....we did NOT (nor do we) export more fuel than we import(ed).

HE said he was. And no one said we export more fuel than we import. That we import less than we did is a fact.

Dont we export gas?

Not only are we exporting gasoline but the US is the world's No. 1 gasoline exporter. We must do that in order to keep US supplies down and keep the price up.

Kinkroids, once and for all really. The US business world is ALL about money and almost nothing else. The pipeline could stop at Oklahoma where exists our 2nd largest oil refinery.

NO, it must go to Houston. Why ?

Because all of that oil is to be exported and Houston is now a so-called 'free trade zone' whatever that is...and tax free. Isn't that precious ?

When will it dawn on the American people, their country's power base, corporate and govt. is...all about money...period.

Except our oil/gas market is not 'captive to 'the edicts of the oil exporting nations.' We are slave to the speculators as they can 'invest' in oil without buying any oil...only paper. (futures) Then they sell the paper.

The massive scale of countless hundreds of $billions buying and selling paper...determines the price of all commodities.

All suppliers are able do is influence the speculator or hedge their bets, further exacerbating the situation and distortions of the price as when oil went from say about $70-$80/bbl. to over $100/PER...there was and has been plenty of oil in supply.

What is with you asking who Willard is? That happens to be the name on his birth certificate--Willard Romney. Mitt is just a nickname. I've decided to show some respect by referring to the man by his name.

As for my point, read a little won't you? I said AT LEAST $100,000 each year. The exact amount is actually unknown because the figure comes from 2002 when he was running for governor of MA and he only had to indicate that he'd earned more than $100,000 each year. The exact SALARY he drew from Bain during those years is unknown also because for some reason Willard is refusing to show us his tax returns.

And yes, it was his salary. Not return on investment. Salary because he was "sole stock holder, CEO and president" of Bain Capital until he officially retired in 2002. That salary could have been $1 million for all we know, because Willard refuses to release his tax returns. We do know that he drew a salary of at least $100,000 a year--for doing nothing.

Nice gig.

DarkSteven -> RE: Another problem for Romney: (7/13/2012 10:46:29 PM)

Interesting. There are numerous dodges and loopholes for the express purpose of legally evading taxes, and Romney's using them. Nothing illegal or even unethical about that. Let's see if there's a bitter taste about a plutocrat using tricks to evade taxes. Considering the wealth that Presidential candidates typically have, I'm surprised this hasn't been an issue before.

tazzygirl -> RE: Another problem for Romney: (7/13/2012 10:47:39 PM)

None of it is illegal.

Ethical... hmmm

erieangel -> RE: Another problem for Romney: (7/13/2012 11:03:05 PM)

Not illegal...

I'd consider it in a gray area on ethics...

It is slimy as hell.

Does Mitt Romney game Tithing the LDS Church, too?

And isn't it crazy that a guy who receives a 77 THOUSAND DOLLAR tax credit FOR HIS PET HORSE, complains about government handouts?

subspaceseven -> RE: Another problem for Romney: (7/14/2012 5:08:42 AM)

The first qoute from Willard was when he was getting ready to run for Gov...he had to prove he lived in the state, the second is a quote from last night saying he did not live or work in Mass. for 3 years, So they both can't be right..he lied on at least one account....either when he ran for Gov or now running for President...

– 2002: “[T]here were a number of social trips and business trips that brought me back to Massachusetts, board meetings, Thanksgiving and so forth.”

– 2012: “I was in Salt Lake City for three straight years. I don’t recall even coming back once to go to a Bain or management meeting. We were, I was out there running the Olympics and it was a full time job, I can tell you that.”

Of course he used the ever so popular GOP excuse words "I don't recall"....gee who used that before??????????

why dont you?

You should have somewhat of a handle on it, Big Oil Capping Wells or out and out destroying them, sitting on acres and acres of idle land, Banks illegally juking interest, and mortgages, Pharma blocking alternative avenues of drugs, corporate capitulists allowing airline and telephone and media and other monopolies with not only guarded and carved franchises by law, but the ability to wipe out any competition thru unfair practices.

And on and on....

Sorry....missed your point there (I'm sure most others did as well)....and that has to do with Romney exactly....how?

I answered your question, you said you were in the class, but you didn't learn anything.

See if you can see what that has to do with Romney, it ain't going to be on your final test though, you aint got the material to finish this class.

And btw, Willard Mitt Romney is running a campaign to fail to be elected president, been in all the papers, even faux nuze and teabaggers blog sites, surprised you aint heard of it.
