Look at it this way, If science, and random chance are correct, there is not really a way to prove it. If the story of God and Creationism is, then it simply becomes a matter of meeting God, and getting Him to tell the whole story (if He is so inclined) Personally, I think that She is up there laughing Her ass off at how silly this whole discussion can get.
She also says that it really does not matter who buit the church, but She makes the sun shine.

My point exactly, and well said. I make the same point when there is a religious argument between two different religions. I say, there is no need to kill each other trying to prove which God is the real one, you'll find out when you die. If there is no God, we'll never know about it, unless of course there is some sort of afterlife and still no God.

The problem is not religion, the problem is when people try to over extend their boundaries and impose them on others. Even if that religion is atheism.

Actually, I am a solipsist, and am firmly convinced that everyone has an equal likelihood of being right or wrong.

This is something I just wrote in a letter that I thought to share with everyone.

quote:

Your argument suffers from an epistemological problem.

"epistemological." Dictionary.com Unabridged. Random House, Inc. 15 Jul. 2012. <Dictionary.com http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/epistemological>.

epistemological: pertaining to epistemology, a branch of philosophy that investigates the origin, nature, methods, and limits of human knowledge.

As a practical matter there is solid evidence for nothing. To point this out suffers from the problem of being useless. You are not contributing to the topic by pointing this out.

Typically that is. atursvcMaam managed to do it.

But evolution is still a theory and by definition a theory is: a proposed explanation whose status is still conjectural and subject to experimentation, in contrast to well-established propositions that are regarded as reporting matters of actual fact.

By that statement - establishing that you know zilch about the philosophies of science - you have disqualified yourself from any debate concerning science.

In science a theory is about as rock solid as it gets. It requires a paradigm shift to topple a theory; usually many centuries have to pass before a paradigm shift happens.
The hypothesis on the other hand may be disproven by a well designed experiment.

I don't know whether to feel complimented or wounded. I feel ever so much more educated though, new word for me, with a definition attached. Thank you so very much.

Solipsism is never a good way of winning an argument.

It was intended as a compliment. Most everything has an application. It is important to understand the limits of our knowledge so that we do not become too boastful.

Trust me it's even worse to lose an argument as a solipsist.

What honesty is there in theology? Anymore than in astrology? Tarot cards? Chicken entrails?

No honesty in any of this hogwash, We each just make this up as we go along. We change the rules as need be. Is it any more unbelievable to think the world as we know it just happened, Some deity or deities created things or that it is all a figment of our imagination. The answer will probably beome clear to you sooner than you want it to.
Have some fun, enjoy and don't worry so much.

In your estimation do you feel that you are attacking the foundations of reason itself and calling reason nonsense?

Skepticism has a place, just don't get overly carried away with it. It too is a religion.

Aristotle thought the Universe was infinite. Infinity means in both directions. Why do we need to invent a diety?
Science has not changed the basic physical laws of nature. Scientists change their own models as new evidence and insight become available.

Skepticism is a religion is the last defense of those who cannot defend their own religious myths. So, they call into question the questioner.
