Feel like gas prices are making a dent in your budget? Imagine how Ray Crockett felt when he received a bill for nearly $85,000 after filling his gas tank. Nashville's News Channel 5 reports that Crockett charged about $30 in gas from a local station to his Citibank debit card last week during a seemingly routine fill-up. "I stopped here because they had the cheapest gas at the time," Crockett told the station. But that's not what his bank statement showed. "$84,522.54 to be exact," Crockett said. Crockett says he made the discovery when he attempted to use the card to buy lunch, and the card was denied. When he checked his balance, his statement claimed he was more than $84,000 overdrawn. Glad I don't use Citibank and glad I never buy gas at Mapco although I do travel through TN on occasion. I wish they had posted the address of the station. Where is Spike Lee when you really need him?

Geez....what a bunch of numbnuts at Citibank. I only use my non-Citibank credit card to pay my cell phone bill. It's stories like this that convince me to stay away from ever using anything but cash, although some businesses (like United Airlines who can kiss my business goodbye) won't take cash for some items.

You see..isn't c a p i t a l i s m fun and exciting now. There is no future to this country if the people don't get a grip soon and throw everyone out that hasn't already been marginalized or even murdered...by the capitalist. Time to get back to a real free-market and leave capitalism too, to the...'dustbin of history.'

I am in east Ar and travel to west Tn[Memphis] a good bit but I don't buy gas there...West Memphis,Ar. or north Ms is cheaper.And I have nothing to do with Citibank.

DD,I find both Mapco and Citibank at fault on this one.I do NOT use a credit card to pay my bills,I use my hometown owned bank and do autopay on most of my monthly bills and if they see something even a little strange the bank lets me know.I'm so glad I don't have to deal with a faceless national bank.
