The wood is not a much as problem as is the connections. There should be x supports from the center of the seat down to the rockers. This will eliminate cross sway and support the wider seat. The weak part is the back. You might want to consider extending the seat back so you can run additional back supports up at least halfway up the back in at least 3 locations.

Since I live in California and there are no Cracker Barrel restaurants here I always think in my mind they are kind of like the old Stuckey's restaurants we would see from the road when I lived in Ohio and traveled to Florida a few times...so I don't think of them as being a good restaurant to visit but then again this is only my perception in my mind as I have never been to one but the name conjures that up!

Cracker Barrel is not like a Stuckey's, though there are similarities. The breakfast food is excellent, and they sell all sorts of goofy things like old fashioned toys and candies and gifts.

The veggies taste fresh out of the garden, the biscuits and gravy are to die for. The cobblers are slap yo momma good. I only go a couple of times a year, but, if you are ever traveling and get the chance to eat at a Cracker Barrel, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Cracker Barrel has good food. Just takes forever to get seated and the one we stopped in for breakfast only served grits - no hash browns or home fries - yuck.

Hey wasn't there a woodworking dude on here a few months ago that built custom pieces of equipment? I guess that's not really helpful, since I can't remember his name, and think doing a search for "wood" would likely only bring up things that cannot be unseen.

Most of them have closed up around PA. The food is not the type that is selling these days. Most people want smaller and healthier portions. Friendlys, Perkins, Cracker barrel, etc....just are not able to keep their doors open any longer, at least not in PA or here in MD. Most are closing up due to bankruptcy.
