OK I know this is a kink site but it is a network & that's where I'm starting, not just here.

My Mother was always told her father wasn't her real father, sometimes in a rather unpleasant manner, that her Mother got pregnant by a soldier in the war who then disappeared. Recently she cleared her Aunts flat out & found the photo's of her Mother with a GI. So far we have found out he was in the 9th USAAF PART OF THE 437th/439thTCG Squad attached to the 82nd Airbourn. we have photo's & his billet address lots of photo's including that of the engagement ring but no name. The easiest way to discover the identity is from a record of the billet address & I was wondering if anyone knew where such records would lie in the USA as they were destroyed in a fire in Nottingham in the '50's.

Ther eis no ulterior motive just to give my old dear a bit of closure.
I suspect he disappeared at the time to be posted to Southern England in support of Market Garden & then to Italy (judging from the photo's) as that front bogged down at that time. He then would of heard that his Fiancée had been forced to marry another to cover up the growing bump.

The Veterans Administration has lots of that stuff, and also, the Veterans of Foreign wars might be able to help, there are a lot of folks who do history of their regiments and the like.

Hibby got it in one.
The VA or the VFW should be able to help you with that. They bent over backwards and twisted themselves into knots for a local girl here who was trying to track down information on her great granda.
