Why? Mitt can just bring up 8.2% unemployment, and that's happening right now.

Down from what?

Up from 6.5 when he took office the stimulus package gauranteed that unemployment would not break above 8%

Up from 6.5?

I think you need to check your numbers again...

In Jan it was 7.8.

Obama's policies dont start until October...

It was 10.0.

From 10.0 to 8.2...

Right. After promising their stimulus package (which your grandkids will be taxed to pay for) would keep unemployment under 8% to start with. Then, they covered the boo-boo by admitting they just really had no idea what they were doing in the first place.

Obama has a record now. It sucks.

That's why it's fear and loathing. The hope blew away, and the last of the change got dug out of the seat cushions to cover the electric bill for the first heat wave of the summer.

More bullshit, first off that stimulus wasn't passed in a bubble.Republicans watered it down to the point where is couldn't be as effective as it was hoped it would be.
Secondly, while it is true that Obama now has a record ,there are some of us who think it is a pretty good one, especially in the face of Republican obstructionism .
Fear and loathing is your thing Rich.....you seem to fear and loath this man so much you will vote for someone who has spent the last year running away from himself(Romneycare,Bain...etc,etc)
Good luck with that [:)]

tazzygirl -> RE: O and the Entrepreneur (7/16/2012 9:12:39 PM)

The Republicans blew long before any numbers came into being... a fact even you cannot deny.

7.8 to 10.0 in 9 months... staggering numbers indeed.

And the spiral upwards stopped.. and it came down... a painful descent to be sure.

But down it came.

And it just kills you to admit even that much.

Owner59 -> RE: O and the Entrepreneur (7/16/2012 9:41:11 PM)

I gotta couple of analogies Tazz....

1st one, is a group(republicans) who shoot someone putting them in the hospital.....and into the ICU....who are now complaining that the doctors not only aren`t doing enough to save the victim but that THEY the shooters.....know best how to save the victim.......

Another......is a investment councilor taking on a failing,debt-ridden and near bankrupt portfolio that is hemorrhaging capital and assets and the new councilor turns the portfolio around and saves it.......then walk in the losers who ruined the portfolio spouting off about how poorly the new guy is doing....

bush handed the president an economy that was losing 100,000 jobs per month, that number getting worse with every passing month. The president saved Detroit and turned that whole thing around.......without any help from the grim old party.

If the cons were honest and at least admitted how badly bush fucked up our economy.....they might listen to the likes of Mitt when he claims he can do better.

But trying to escape blame and pretend 08 never happened is only going to make thinking folks weary.

What just kills me, Tazzy, is seeing my wife bored out of her mind in a job far below her abilities, because her industry is still flatlined. What kills me is seeing a damn fine carpenter forced to borrow $20 to put in the tank, because he has some work, repairing real estate signs that are falling apart from age and exposure. What kills me are the people who just gave up, and fell off the back of the number to live in Mom's basement, and cuss about the Republicans all day on the internet. What kills me is seeing smart, good people, with a work ethic, deciding to just file the damn SSI claim, when the unemployment runs out, because there isn't anything out there.

Musicmystery -> RE: O and the Entrepreneur (7/16/2012 10:05:29 PM)

How is this any different from the "government should take care of me" claim you profess to hate so much?

It's an entrepreneur's world. Get to work creating.

Yup. During his time at Bains, he demonstrated a remarkable aptitiude for making American jobs disappear or migrate overseas. All he has to do is reverse the processes he has already perfected and - hey presto! jobs will appear before you can say abracadabra. Simples!

Wow, a bank loan. Principle and interest (profit) payments. The fucking bank is in it to make a profit, not be magnanimous and help you. I swear, you must think bank foreclosure is a fucking virtue.

You'd call an employee and all that goes with that employee being helped. Just who the fuck is helping who?

Not to mention all the help generated, not by good will, but road/gas TAXES. Help from society. You make it sound like an fucking Amish barn raising.

Help in your world is quite expensive.

You're loony tunes. [sm=rofl.gif]

I knew you would miss the implications of bank loans........ As someone who spouts on about how the banks should have been left to fall, what do you think would have happened to businesses who saved/borrowed from such banks ?

Loony tunes doesnt begin to cut it.

tweakabelle -> RE: O and the Entrepreneur (7/17/2012 3:31:04 AM)

I'm tired of hearing from all these self made types how they made it "all on their own", and how the tax burden is 'suffocating them'. Like most self interested claims, the facts are skewed in favour of the claimant.

No one makes it on their own. Every successful person receives help from all kinds of people on their way up the ladder - from the people who taught them the skills they possess and utilised in their business, their wives and families (who are almost never acknowledged) the system that provides the market place and laws to order that market place, their bankers, their employees ......... Their success is the fruit of their own hard work and the contributions from all the parties who helped them on their way.

It is a very reasonable proposition that those who benefit most from the system contribute most to the continuing successful operation of the system. If these people weren't so blinded by their own self-interest and BS, they'd recognise that it is very much in their own best interests that the system continues to operate along the lines that enabled their success.

You think many of us arent in that same boat, Rich?

And can you honestly say Obama put you and those you spoke about in that position?

I know tons of us are in the same boat, Tazzy.

I also know the guy you are cheerleading for thinks, "the private sector is doing fine," and seems to be perfectly happy with the status quo, because it gives him "victims" he can try to squeeze another round of votes from.

Musicmystery -> RE: O and the Entrepreneur (7/17/2012 6:44:17 AM)

So apparently, now government is the solution.....

TheHeretic -> RE: O and the Entrepreneur (7/17/2012 6:56:28 AM)

I'd offer to come back and set you straight on that, Muse, but why waste the keystrokes when you'll just vanish, claim it was a joke, or suddenly discover that you have to get ready for the holidays?

You were smart, with a bit of class once. It's a pity. what you've become.

Have a nice day though.
