Bill Gate's family has done this exact same thing for the last 50+ years.

Seems to have worked out well for his family....(I think they call it "competition"..."learning to win").

And, Obama's (sedentary) vacations are paid for by.....uhhhh......you.

I don't think that vacationing with the family is weird at all. Our family has similar excursions together.. grandparents (me!), aunts, uncles, cousins are often included. We, generally, like each other so we like to hang out and do stuff together.

Changing the rules of the competition so Romney can beat the woman who just gave birth a few months prior and failing to give a work pass to the son ... that just sounds like typical Romney.

Not very impressive but not a big surprise either.

A few thoughts:

(a) I'm not sure Presidents, of either party, are every truly on vacation. That three a.m. call is gonna find the chief executive wherever s/he may be.

(b) A week of organized sports sounds like hell to me, but I'm sure some folks would love it.

(c) We all find our paradise in our own strange ways. I once vacationed at an Episcopal monastery on the Hudson, and it was one of the best weeks of my life. I'm sure that would seem freakish to many others.

As to your other question....yes, my employer pays for my vacations. (It just so happens, I'm the employer but....yes, my employer takes care of me quite exceptionally :) )

And for the record....the President doesn't earn his vacation money (as you suggest...privately), he earns it as a paid employee of the United States.

Is not the money paid the president for services rendered his to spend as he chooses?
Just as the person who drives the city trash truck is paid by the government his pay is his to spend a he chooses. Your position that the president's vacation is paid for by the taxpayers is moronic tripe.
