If he can do it, maybe some light weights to work his arms out a bit.

Everyone has covered every other idea I had already-lol.

Does he paint or draw?
There are easels that can be used in bed while laying flat on his back or sitting up a little.

dooooodette;  he should shuffle YOUR ass down to the library and get him dvds.   (and books on tape) they can order from other libraries (they got like quantum physics lectures, nearly anything) maybe language tapes.

My ass is 800 miles away. If I was right there, I would be able to try things left and right without emailing him.

has he a laptop? do the family tree, goto www. ancestry . com and go for the package.

In my family, we have done that. My 'indian' ancestory is much more proveable that Ms. Warren's.

and you gather the photographs and letters and whatnot.  get him some albums so he can albumize them as well.

Someone else would have to do the gathering. But it is a good idea. Thanks.

Gonna ask for Ron to pinch hit for Me, because he's more computer savvy that I am.

On Wow, we have this thing that I call vent. It's kind of like skype, but through the game. Best thing going. Talk in real time.

Makes a world of difference when miles apart.

Aylee, you have forgottwn the most important piece of information! What the heck did he do?????? Is he okay otherwise?

If he is a reader, make sure he has a digital reader of some kind. They are much easier on the hands and arms when used for a long time.

It is great!

Write his memoirs for the grandkids, his reminisces.

An especially good suggestion!

Have him learn a new language!

ETA: Let him suggest new definitions for the M-A-S-T-U-R-B-A-T-I-O-N thread!

Okay. . . two story house.

The air conditioner (swamp cooler) went out on the upper level. The part that needed to be replaced came in. My dad went up to fix it. Replace it. Whatever.

There was an issue with the ladder. He kicked it or something. It was not there for the final descent and he fell? and landed breaking both heels.

Yes, he is fine.

He is on bed rest.

Yes he has online access (what the fuck? do you think we are barbarians?) He just does not want to read. Yes, I am a freak in the family with wanting to read.

So. . . what does one do on bed rest? (He says no "House" dvd's)

X-box? Wii?

Thaz -> RE: Bed Rest. Suggestions? (7/20/2012 11:31:11 AM)

Buy him a kindle and some amazon tokens....

Plenty of books, alterable type size depending on his sight and it will read to him if thats an issue. And its easy to use and lasts a couple of months between charging.

What part of'he does NOT want to read' did you not understand?

If sending books was a cure-all, I would do so. I have lots of books. Like 5000 plus. My dad does not want them. He wants something to occupy his time.

Sudoku puzzles. When I first learned how to do them, I was soooo addicted! If he enjoys puzzles at all, this could be a fairly good challenge.

There are Sudoku puzzle books and there are several online sites too.

One site I used to visit was the USA Today puzzle page. It never used to have ads though. :\

A subscription to netflix or some other online streaming place so he can watch whatever floats his boat from the pc.

They just got Breaking Bad out on streaming. Who *doesn't* like Breaking Bad?

Almost anything is available on the Wii. Is he going to watch the Olympics? There is at least one game out there where you go ti Olympics and take part in all the sports, winning medals, etc. We have the Winter Olympics game from 2010, if the summer is anything like the winter, it will be a blast.
