Sending prayers and sympathy to all those affected and touched by the tragedy in Colorado. Once again it is heartening to see the same solidarity and coming together as was also witnessed after events such as 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina.

However this solidarity is possible even without a tragedy and this is what needs to become far more important than any of your politics or political divisions.

Rich.... TwentyOne opened this topic because I asked her to

I didn't have that bit of backstory, when I got started. I just knew the earlier one had gone hopelessly political.

That was partially My fault, Rich.

That's why I asked TwentyOne for this one.

I just want people to have 24 hours to grieve.

K?

LadyPact -> RE: Tragedy In Colorado (7/21/2012 10:38:15 PM)

Off topic, I suppose.

I did. I cried for the lost. I'm crying still.

24 hours. Is that so hard?

Give the families a chance.

I don't know why they had to die.

Get your heart in order.

For the lost.....

LadyPact -> RE: Tragedy In Colorado (7/21/2012 10:46:14 PM)

And just one more.

Thank you, TwentyOne, so people could have a chance to grieve.

ResidentSadist -> RE: Tragedy In Colorado (7/21/2012 11:53:02 PM)

There but by the grace of God go I or my ex. She used to live in the area and watched movies in that very theater. The fact we all have a common denominator with the victims because it was random and could have happened in any town to any of us is frightening.

Maniacal and well thought out deadly violence in action . . . the waste of life and sorrow it brings to all that it touches is very sad. My sympathy is with the victims and their families.

ClassIsInSession -> RE: Tragedy In Colorado (7/22/2012 12:14:59 AM)

I'm always puzzled by the motivation of whack jobs like this guy. What could you possibly get out of going into a random crowd of people and taking lives like that? It's just chaos and evil. The senseless killing is what bothers me the most about it, that these people, were simply living their lives and it abruptly ends for no valid reason. A year or two ago a guy walked to up to the park just down the street from me and opened fire on a woman holding her baby. Shot her right in the head. The guy who did it was living out of a storage unit and was disgruntled about losing his job. But again I'm thinking ok, but this random woman holding her baby did nothing at all to you. She had nothing to do with your losses. So how does this possibly give you any sense of satisfaction? Fortunately, that particular woman survived, in this case, how many families will want so badly to have just another minute or two with their loved ones to express their feelings.

Tragic losses, that nothing in the world could ever make up for.

RS, that's why I asked for this thread.

Tomorrow will be another day.

I admit... I am cowardly.

I want these families to have a chance to grieve

I know..... I am wasting My time.

That was probably My fault, Rich. It just makes Me so mad. People couldn't even let families bury their dead before we all had to bitch about gun control.

I don't ask for many things often in this joint. On this subject, I did.

needlesandpins -> RE: Tragedy In Colorado (7/22/2012 4:16:48 AM)

the families and friends of these people have my deepest sympathies. it could be any of us anywhere in the world. i can't even begin to imagine how scared those people were, and the way it will affect them for the rest of their lives.

My assumption is that he anticipated a scenario in which LEOs' would try to get him from his apartment, and he'd be able to hold them off for weeks.

On this, we absolutely agree.

OK. I can do this.

(I appreciate your grace.)

Already too soon, it reminds Me of Columbine.

The expression, "The gnashing of teeth" really does happen.

I do really think that people should put their political bullshit aside and let families bury their dead.

The parents.... The siblings....Let them bury their dead.

I'll debate with you sixteen ways to Sunday about circumstance. But not yet.

This thread is for grief.

Give your condolences here for the lost.

Tomorrow will we bicker about bullshit.

But not today.

Today we will mourn for families.

What say you?

Whatever the politics, my thoughts go out to the people of CO, and to anyone else who has been touched by this terrible, terrible thing.
