ORIGINAL: kitkat105 Glad you are doing well and had a good time! Is your ankle feeling better? I imagine most of the swelling etc has gone down now. (My inner orthopaedic nurse is curious). Thanks for asking, my dear, yes. There wasn't as much swelling as I had anticipated, which was a relief, and there's really none left now. I've never been casted before, so wasn't sure what to expect. The first few days were interesting because there was a bit of a fearsome battle going on in my mind regarding whether the cast would allow for whatever amount of swelling might occur. I could see my toes poking out, which looked a bit like little stuffed piggie toes compared with the normal foot, and at times I could feel uncomfortable ankle/foot pressure/pain from the swelling pressing against the cast. It was a chore not to fear it would swell too much for what the cast would allow, and I had visions of them having to quickly remove it so I wouldn't end up with a gangrenous then amputed leg, so you can be sure I was frequently checking the stuffed little piggies for color, size and sensation. I laugh now at my silliness and only wish at the time all that nonsensical monkey mind madness should have been replaced with trust that the Docs & Nurses knew what they were doing and had casted me properly. There were times, though, last night during my 4 hr round trip drive, where I wondered whether it would cause enough swelling I would have to do something about it while on the road. Thankfully, it didn't. Again, thanks for asking.
