A Kentucky girl who was sexually assaulted could face contempt of court charges after she tweeted the names of her juvenile attackers.
Savannah Dietrich, the 17-year-old victim, was frustrated by a plea deal reached late last month by the two boys who assaulted her, and took to Twitter to expose them--violating a court order to keep their names confidential.
"There you go, lock me up," Dietrich tweeted after naming the perpetrators. "I'm not protecting anyone that made my life a living Hell."

This is just fucked up in so many ways. Why do I get the feeling the boys will get a slap on the wrist. There is a link to a petition to get the judge to drop the charges. I hope it works but it could piss him off and make it worse.

Her attorney, her family and probably herself agreed to the plea deal. She should deal with what happens for violating a court order.

If it turns out she knew and agreed then I would agree. But according to the article she didn't know about it ahead of time. Of course that doesn't mean the article is right.

From the article: "Dietrich was assaulted by the pair after passing out at a party. They later shared photos of the assault with friends."

If the boys were this proud of their handiwork, I have a hard time seeing why their names should be protected.

If this judge goes through with a sentence then this girl will have not been raped by just these two. Even if she knew did she understand what was really going on? As well, if the sentence had already been handed down what right does the judge have to keep judging her? The trial would be done and over. What she is tweeting is the truth and is'nt she allowed the right to free speech?

What is the legal age of consent in her state?

This is just so much crap from this judge. As well, as from people who are suppose to love her. If there is video evidence then why a plea bargin? Does the law have to be standing there and waiting for the act of penetration before any one can put the little creeps in prison.

They are under age when they are older their file will be closed and know one will know who it was. With her tweeting the "feathers are out of the pillow and are now blowing in the wind." I'm sure the "boys". Can take the suffering as well as she can right?

I REALLY agree with you (sorry for the caps, but can't I or B here yet)..

This is only one incident over the past week.. did you hear about the 12yo that raped the granny next door?
again.. same thing.. his identity is being withheld, etc..

I feel the need to say more about me for those that don't know me (who I assume is everyone - lol)

I have done active activism for years.. supporting kink, bdsm, pro sex workers, trans people, and much more..
I speak, and demonstrate, and am loud and proud to make a difference and educate people (the 'masses') that just because someone is into kink, does NOT mean they are a "Predator"..

There is role play, and age play, and AB, and so many aspects.. but we are adults being healthy..
Not Rapists or pedophiles, etc..

So, when I see "The Almighty Law" protecting true predators.. I simply have to make and take a stand..
they should be outed, put on lists, and watched for the rest of their lives .. and she (or ANY Victim no matter what age, race, sex, or gender) should feel safe and be able to get through it (no one 'gets over it').

So, everyone, please pardon my "rant".. but far too many kinksters get on the list for peeing in public than the true dangerous people. *sigh*

Why would they have known? They certainly did not have to even know about the plea before it was sealed in court.

On a brighter note, the court order violates her free speech rights and will not survive appeal if the judge even bothers to hold her on contempt charges.

If anyone has ever dealt with any court or any lawyer, you will know that they only tell people 1/2 the story..
it's a fact..

"They" (the victim and family) may have heard that "they" (the aggressors) had agreed to plead guilty, but I think she flipped when she found out that their records would be sealed as a part of that deal.

I am sure that she thought a guilty plea meant jail time, sex offender lists, etc...
after all.. guilty is guilty right?
(well.. not exactly)

and I don't blame her at all.. pay back is a bitch

I feel very sorry for her... but she broke the law.

I've been hesitating to post here but I feel I must...

Normally, I would be all for protecting juvenile offenders from being "scarred" but, this is an extremely interesting situation.

One of the most insidious "symptoms" that a rape victim deals with is shame. This young lady has, obviously, over-come that and is ready to put the shame and guilt where it belongs.

While I still feel some sympathy for the youthful offenders, I support this girl 100% and have signed the petition.
