Guinness, Harp, Keith's, Red Stripe, Kingfisher (especially with a curry...mmmmmm), Tsingtao, Sapporo draft, Stella, and a lovely beer from New Zealand called Leopard, which I have been unable to find for about 20 years now

Caffrey's Irish Ale -- this is the nectar of the gods!
Just about any German bier, though I'm partial to Spaten and Paulaner

some other memorable suds:
had a beer made with chilis once -- your mouth burns and you have to drink more!
Moretti  -- Italian
the Guinness in Ireland -- I think it has less hops and alcohol than they make for export markets. It is just creamy liquid food. yum!

and then there's this:
quote:

rausch (smoked) beer (germany)

had that at an Oktoberfest once. definitely memorable -- I think it is to beer what Laphroaig is to scotch

RavenMuse:  When I was over there last I found that what most Americans call beer is actualy like making love in a canoe!

heee heee...its what we native Milwaukeans say about Coors or Oly.

In fact, RM is right in that few American beers, even the crafted, custom, brewhouse types, compare with the English beers and ales for body and full taste.

... but give me a good American lager (ice cold) on a hot summer day watching a NASCAR race, or (after) a shooting match!

Current favorites:  My hometown pride, Goose Island.  Any of you REALLY love beer, come around and we will go down to the brewery/pub and sample what's on tap.  The Summertime Kolsch is great, as is their new "Belgian" (with a whopping 7% alcohol).

I like a good weiss bier with a squeeze of lemon on a hot summer day.  Hacker-Pshor Brau is my current favorite.

And I'll always drink Guiness.  In Chicago, fortunately, we have many bars that serve it on tap and at the right temperature.  I'll drink it straight, in a black & Tan, or even in a SnakeBite (Guiness and a tart hard cider, like Woodpecker)

What I can't drink are the "shandy" drinks that the Brits, Irish, Scots and Canadians all seem to love.  Years ago, my wife and I almost broke off an otherwise fun couples friendship with some Canadians we met on vacation when he and she ordered Labatts blue, tomato juice and MIXED them in front of us.  GAAAAACK!

Bottoms up!

E.

Corona and  Fat Tire Amber are also in the fridge.

I've never been disappointed by a nice, ice cold Corona. For you beer buffs, here's a site you might find interesting.

I  tend to dislike most American domestic beer, with a few exceptions. I like the Sam Adams line, as well as Leinenkugel, but prefer a good German, or English beer. I guess I'll have to try a Belgian sometime. Goose Island's sampler platter was pretty cool, thou the glasses were a wee bit small

Now heres a topic where i know my stuff - yay at last!!
Not that i'm an alchy or anything but i run a pub lol.
The best lager to me is san miguel but not the crappy stuff that is exported.
The best comes straight from the tap in Spain preferably as near to malaga as possible where it is brewed. It is a lager which does not travel well.

Can't a British pub girl lose her license, or something, for such heresy!???

Actually San Miguel travels pretty well to the USA, and it is good, but very pricey compared to some domestic lagers.

I tend to like red beers (not too light, not too dark) so Rickards is the easiest to get around here. I also agree that Belgian beers are wonderful. Darned if i can remember the name of it (too much beer will do that) but I once had a belgian cherry beer that was to die for. Must find out what it was...again.

I tend to lean towards very dark beers or lagers. I absolutely love guiness.

Saranac makes a great assortment pack every christmas. It has 12 different beers in each 12 pack. Adirondac Amber and the Black forest are  my favorites. I buy 10 cases to stock up with so it last all year. I like all beers pretty much. I buy a different kind every time and I look for the microbrews because they go out of buissiness fast. I only drink beer no wine or hard stuff. I have been drinking very little lately because I lost some weight I want to keep of. Ok I bored you enough on this post I even bored myself lol.

I was out in Montana for vacation about twelve years ago and a bunch of pipeline workers from Alaska were sitting in the bar we were hanging in.  They were drinking red beers.  Looked interesting so I had to try one.  To this day I still have one occasionally.  Take a draft beer, add tomato juice, tabasco and cracked pepper.

Gotta agree, San Miguel is really good, especially on a hot day. Locally, I think Little Kings is good too (it's a cream ale), and for Mexican food... Tacate has Corona beat hands down.
