I'm generally not one for opening ceremonies but I did like this one. Also the torch and the idea behind it was ingenious. Every four years people have to come up with a new way of doing the same thing i.e. lighting a flame. The idea of all those separate petals representing each nation coming together as a single flame for one purpose is exactly what the Olympics is about.

Also it was lit by exactly the right people, those for whom it was meant to inspire.

NBC's coverage is always disgraceful. I miss being able to get Canadian tv.

Abide with me always makes me cry...I missed the intro of it (I was making peach cake during) and it didnt make an impact regarding 7/7 until I watched it again.
