Status: offline 		Interesting question, and of course there will be many different answers true for different people.
It is my observation that in the BD/SM scene as in life in general those folks (dom or sub) who feel insecure or inadequate about things in their life often become hostile to anyone they feel is questioning them. Often this is because they react to even simple honest questions as threats, as a lack of respect, or as attacks. I find that people who are secure about themselves (dom or sub) are often gracious, tolerant and welcome the chance to help others, even if they are not very experienced themselves.

Almost anyone can take a few words out of a post, and find a way to take offense.

Status: offline 		I know what you mean.. theres 100 angles to everything and some ppl just dont wanna say "your right" they wanna say something profound at another point of view.
I quit the boards at b.com they got so nasty..if your in the click you was okay most the time.
But it got like if you misspell a word or something you must not know what your talking about or be a Dom/me or sub and all that petty stuff. Some one can be stating a fact and be chewed up and down for it..even if its just an opinion.
 
When I post at all I expect a lynch mob in bdsm forums.. its not worth it to me.
If you tell me why people have to be that way then we will both know.

Status: offline 		Well, I don't exactly agree that that's what's going on, caitlyn, but suppose you're right; suppose people are going out of their way to be offended even when no offense was intended.  Why is that happening?  Something is going on with people.  They're ready to explode at the slightest provocation.

Status: offline 		I dunno, I try and find humour in the whole bloody mess and rudely interject it at every turn. The way I look at it, not one darn thing on this site is worth my getting truely pissed off about. I focus on the people that have little grains of wisdom and those that make me laugh. The rest I either laugh at or wonder who pissed in their Wheaties and mooooooooooooove on! ( UNLESS of course I am feeling especially fiesty and want to have fun and egg them on a bit before they disappoint me and end up being no fun at all.)

Status: offline 		I can only speak about the U.S., but we have been becoming a society where we are all been told we are special and we should get everything we want and it has lead to selfish and spoiled behavior.

So when people say something that we do not agree with or something about us we do not like even if it is not inflammitory we take it personally and have an ever increasing trouble with handling differences of opinions. It is happening everywhere. I am special therefore my beliefs are special.

I stay away from those type of threads,  you will rarely see me post in them if at all.  I tend to go to the fun threads or ones that I can offer some help.  I have enough drama in my life without gaining more on these boards.  I have made alot of friends here, and I intend to keep them...


You are right. And Im going to do this too. From now on Im staying out of the threads that piss me off.  I hate when someone misinterprets me and tells me what I meant to say.  argh. then I end up in an argument with them.  But like LnM said, who 'gives a fuck'.  I think its too much coming onto the site maybe...just scoping around, Then you read something that you feel passionate about and you say something...and god damned if someone doesnt end up twisting your words.  Its just not worth it.  "you said x , so it must mean y and z."   I think Im going to spend more time on the humor threads.

Status: offline 		People who are bitter in life can easily find a place to unleash their hostility, anger, sadness, frustration, etc. online.  You can't talk to family or friends about your issues, or maybe you have no friends or family.... vent your rage on a computer screen... you even often get feedback to inspire you further.

That's my take on it anyway....  and anyone who thinks otherwise can....

The rain forrests anf wild life are fast dissapearing and thus the whole planetary balance is off centre so why isn'y it suprising that the human animal is off centre too? How to fix?? Remove between 50% and 75% of the humans from the face of the earth. Stop all clearing of natural forests and jungles. Allow the world to recove and whilst it does allow the human species to grow up nd become responsible.. Failute to do any of this will see us after a holocast reverting back to either a tribal system (I can live with that) or to a feudal system (I can live with that as long as I am a feudal) but remove all mordern weapons and lets get back to basics so you can resonle issues with hand to hand combat sword on sword....... But then I dont have any faith in the human race ever maturing enough to manage things correctly .....

Well, I will admit to being more than slightly annoyed by the immigration issue.  That, and the fact that our elected "representatives" represent nothing but their own version of morality, which they're trying harder and harder to force down the throats of everyone in the freakin' country.  Other than that, I'm happy as a clam, and rarely pipe up on the "real" gripe threads.

Why is everyone so angry? That's hard to answer without first knowing what their home life is like. I could take every guess there is and probably still not come close to the actual answer.
Some of it may be frustration with all the 'simplistic' questions that are answered ( ie how do I find a _______' etc ), or it could just be a reaction to what they perceive as immaturity.

I would like to see a bit more civility too; but I want to say that some of the frustration may come from being made to feel having a certain view-point or opinion makes them intolerant or even stupid.

Status: offline 		Lord, as for the cheese steak sandwhich and "immigrants" in the news lately, I think people aren't so much angry at Immigrants but the sheer number of Illegal Aliens in the country and the absolute failure of our govt. to stop it because of corruption.
I have no problem with "Immigrants" but I have a lot of problems having 11-20 million Illegal Aliens here.
That's not a "tolerance" issue it's a Law Enforcement/Government issue and President Bush is guilty of Dereliction of Duty for not dealing with this issue.
Our country is being invaded by millions of people from foreign countries who are not supposed to be here and people have the right and duty to be hostile towards not only them but our govt. which has allowed this situation to get so out of control.
The guy in Philadelphia who owns that Sub Shop is, I think trying to make a statement with his store's policy of English Only.
He has the right to do so under our system.
One thing is for sure; we can simply not "tolerate" millions of Illegal Aliens in our country just because our (present) government in Washington can't or more likely will not, do it's job.
People out in society (are) noticibly edgier these days because their incomes are under pressure from so many people willing to work for cheaper wages than them illegally. That is totally understandable.
What is not is that we have a President who refuses to enforce our laws and as a result is hurting working people throughout the U.S. I'm really starting to wonder if he should be impeached myself.
If he either can't or won't do the job he shouldn't be in office!
Bush has taken that even one step further by telling us "we "can't" deport millions of people who are here illegally" His type of thinking leads to wholesale breakdowns of law and order.
"Can't?"
Didn't we land a man on the moon?
Didn't we find a cure for Polio?
Didn't we invent the internet?
One thing for certain, Bush is REALLY putting a Hurting to Working People in this country, I don't think anyone would  argue against that.
You mentioned "Immigrants". Those who are in our country Illegally are not "Immigrants" they are Illegal Aliens.
That is under our system of laws two seperate and distinct groups or classes of people.
I'm fairly new here and I haven't really noticed people being intolerant or unfriendly.
I don't go into all the posts however, too many.
Any interactions I've had on here have been very cordial and friendly.
Lord, Cheer up! If we were in China or Iran or a lot of other countries there'd be no arguing or edginess at all!
Just boring compliance.
We DO need to fix this government so that it starts listening to the People.
I know I'll be very cheery after the next two elections!
