I've gotta agree with Celeste and say that yes, you do really have a fucked up, piss poor attitude.  It's whining, miserably pathetic posts like I just read from you that make me want to just reach out and slap someone.  Dom, my ass.  Stop being such a bitch.

I just had to throw this in!  I used to have #12, too, but just this week someone I know DID win the lottery and is the first $1,000,000 winner in North Carolina's brand NEW Education Lottery.  And actually, it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!

amen

But don't limit it to the message boards...it's in the emails as well.  Not sure why it would even be there, if you don't like someone, simply move on to the next profile.

Would be cool to let the hostility go and just talk, and hopefully about bdsm subjects.   If you need to talk about racisim or politics, there are plenty of boards for that sort of thing, I don't go to those boards and talk about bdsm.

I know I know free country and all, but I love to come here and share ideas and the like about the lifestyle, I know people have things they need to get off their chest, but...this site is "supposed" to be about the lifestyle is it not?

What are all these viewpoints and opinions that people are wrongly labeling as intolerant?

That's the thing.  It doesn't matter what the topic is.  Someone will jump your ass and tell you that you're wrong.  Most people can't stand being told they're wrong, so they in turn have a hissy fit because someone dared to say they are wrong.  If you say someone is wrong, then you're intolerant or not PC or whatever.  You're judgmental *gasp*.

Anything anyone posts, whether to start a thread, or to respond to one, is under the scrutiny of others.  20 people will read the same post and get 20 different things out of it.  And they all believe their particular read is the correct one.

The more controversial topics, such as religion and politics create even more anger because people have a deep-seated belief on these topics, the passion for what they believe runs deeper.  So when their belief is attacked by someone whose belief is different, there is anger.  But it's ok to attack those who don't believe as you do, you know.  You're exercising your freedom of speech.  To hell with anyone else.

I have been to church a few times with friends....  and found it ironic how everyone exchanged lovely 'peace be with you's, and then when church was over, the parking lot was road rage central.

If people aren't made to feel loved by a few who would give their left kidney to them.... they don't learn to love themselves. These people aren't going to give a rat's ass about anyone else. Most people who 'hate', hate themselves first and foremost.

Lorelei, you've touched on something that I've been thinking as I've read through this thread so far.  I don't remember the statistics, but it has been said recently by "those" who are supposed to "know" these things, that there are more "Christians" in the world now (particularly the US) than ever in the history of mankind, or something like that. (lol)  The Christians are so defensive now, yet our Constitution says we have freedom of religion, but that means unless you are pagan, wiccan, or some other "off brand".

Point being, if there are SO many Christians now, doesn't that give a whole new slant to this discussion?  Aren't Christians supposed to be kind to others and do everything in love and "God bless" everyone they see?  Yet many of them are the most intolerant people.  I mean even Wicca says "do what you will" as long as no others are harmed.

Anyway, if there are so many Christians, why is there so much negativity, intolerance, arguing, road rage, ETC, in this country?

I'm just now joining this thread. Well, um.... actually, this is my first post on this board. To be honest, likely my last as well since I have as much free time as a crack whore who never has enough money to buy her fix. Hahahaa.

Anyways..... I can tell you that I try really, really hard to be polite online... but I still explode every few days. I'm um... a fetish model... and I get more fan mail than you can imagine. Actually, I have people who READ MY EMAIL for me and respond to it. Jesus christ. Anyways. The reason I usually end up exploding is because I'll get an email from some fucking moron... usually on MySpace (argh!) .... from some pathetic, immature, vanilla mother fucker who sends me a message like, "LOL.. U R SO PRETY... CAN WE CHAT SUMTIME?? LOL.. U DIDNT RESPOND TO MY LAST 672 EMELS SO U MUST BE A STUCK UP BICH.. I HATE U!" .... right? .... Now.... Usually I try to stay calm and delete this email, but here is what pisses me off. 1.) Yeah, pretty. Great. You wanna know something? In person, I'm average. I'm only pretty when my makeup is done and the lighting is perfect. On top of that, if I'm actually going to communicate with someone, I'd really like it if they appreciated me for, y'know, my intellect or something. 2.) People who can't spell shouldn't write. Unless you're dyslexic or, like, 5 years old, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to communicate in your native tongue like a civilized being. I'm a high school drop out and I still manage some form of intelligent communication. And yes, I'm aware my grammar sucks but it still doesn't compare to the above example. 3.) People who have nothing in common with me SHOULD NEVER TALK TO ME. There's no reason to do so. 4.) I hate do-me boys, yes I do. 5.) People who don't have any intelligence, valuable assets, or good looks just... shouldn't talk to me. They have nothing useful to me. Why do they think they have anything to offer me? For fucks sake.... And no, I don't care about good lucks, I just figure if someone has the nerve to decide to talk to me based off a picture, they should at least have an image on-par with my own.

So, hi. I'm a stuck up bitch. I can't help it. I hate humanity. I usually try to be nice to stupid people, but stupid people always try to provoke me by thinking they have a *chance* with me. What the hell..... I guess it's arrogant stupid people I dislike, huh?

Tsk tsk...

I think someone already marketed Soma.  I doubt it's half the fun, though, and it's probably not a panacea.  But hey, when in doubt, drop mescaline!  (Joking.  Please don't arrest me.)

~Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (practicing the above quote is inadvisable... I could tell you stories)

Edited to add:  I got laid last night.

And I think that all the negativity floating around isn't anything particularly new.  The message boards, and even personal relationships, go in strange cycles of "light and dark", if you will.  I've noticed that the boards get really angry and vicious for a month or so, then we're all in make-up sex stage and nice to each other, then we get factual for a bit, then we try to bend over backwards to be understanding, then we get fed up with being polite and nice and jump right back into the angry/brutally honest stage.  I know that's how it works for me.  Sometimes I'm so damned PC and polite, regardless of how pissed off I am, that I eventually snap and tell everyone exactly what I think of them.

You're absolutely correct. I'm fairly intuitive and when a few of these 9-11 threads were started, I noticed a few posters who normally write from /with a very jovial disposition become much more tense and upset when more than one dissenting opinion attacked their core beliefs. I think it’s extremely healthy for one to have their belief systems attacked/challenged and then have to defend them. It invigorates the soul!

And some would make the comment that since this may be true; perhaps issues relating to religion and politics should not be discussed on BDSM forums. I say bullshit. I think those topics can be discussed in any venue as long as each participant respects the other. I dunno…. I don’t see why that’s so tough.

It's tough because there will always be those people who view any form of disagreement to be a personal attack.  If you don't agree with their point of view and have the audacity to tell them so, they'll accuse you of negativity and publicly condemn you for attacking them.  Happens all the time.  Personally, as long as the name calling is kept to a minimum, I feel that healthy debate and disagreement is both educational and entertaining.

::takes notes:: OK, we need some Xanax for Art and some Xtacy should alleviate the boredom. Viagra or Cialis? Have a preference? Perhaps some Levitra?

Oh.. and some Soma for Riot.

That should do it.

Now, there are two less angry people.. but..

I still have fucking menopause.. so I'm planning on being pissed off until 2010 at least.

Celeste:   Back when I was importing herbs and oils, several of my menopausal customers swore by Black Cohosh and yam extracts.  Maybe those would help?

There is of course HRT, if you want to roll the carcinogenic dice.  And at least one woman I know swears that scotch, cigars and a day at the shotgunning range makes her feel much better.  Even if she's having hot flashes, she says, at least the barrell of her Bernelli is even hotter!
