I don't refer to it as "kink"....

I don't even think of it as a "lifestyle", honestly.

To Me, its just life.

We could argue terminology until we're purple in the face (and frequently do).  But we have to have some terms to use or we'd all sit around in a verbal fog.

Personally, I like the term kink.  Yes, it's normal for me, but everyone has some definition of 'normal', and most of them differ a great deal.  I love to feel that I'm kinky, that I'm different from the vanillas around me (although I wonder if anyone is really vanilla, considering all that I'm hiding, I wonder what's going on behind other closed doors).  What's wrong with seeing 'kinky' as normal?

After all, some people have straight hair, some have really curly, and some have just a bit of a kink in it.

Oh, we are talking about hair, aren't we?

I agree completely, and find it silly to sit around arguing about what words really mean and when and how they should or should not be used. Why do we call it "fetish" wear? Does that mean you can only wear it if you have a "fetish" for it? A "play" party? What if you don't play at these parties? What if you just watch? "Leather" event? What if you show up in blue jeans?
Is there any other area of life that is so nitpicky about words? Why is it that so many people in the LIFESTYLE get such a cramp over words?

Now I'm going to take my somewhat submissive but NOT slave and not HIGH submissive (cuz that term REALLY twisted some knickers), switchy, bisexual, not kinky but interested in deviant sexual practices but NOT a pain slut or a masochist, but who likes some pain play but isn't "just a bottom" cuz I like to have a relationship with someone before they touch me SELF and go bowling. This shit's just too complicated.

I like using the words kink, kinky, pervert, perv, slut, deviant...what have you. They make me smile, and I don't have any negative association with them.

I agree with Cin. Words are just words. Labels are just labels. One can label anything they chose anyway they choose. I refer to D/s and BDSM as a lifestyle in coversation with other's to make conversation flow easier, but to me saying I am part of a lifestyle is like saying that I had a choice. For me submission is not a lifestyle "choice" as I never really had a choice. It is simply the core of my being.
(I just wish it didn't take 37years to figure that one out [sm=ofcourse.gif])
