Very sad news. He was my hero in so many ways.
A brave, intelligent, creative, witty man. They don't
make them like Gore Vidal anymore. I know that
like Cyrano he died with his panache.

He was a brilliant and learned man. No one
topped him as a essayist not even Montaigne.
He was a playwright, a novelist, a screenwriter
(Suddenly Last Summer amongst others) and
a handsome devil.
