Background checks for firearm purchase are to prevent convicted felons and those with mental illness from purchasing firearms.
HIPA regulations prevent release any medical information without patient permission or a court order.

Now, unless mental treatment was ordered by a court; would it ever show up on a background check?

Just ruminating over the hype on the Aurora shootings and wondering if our community has any thoughts on this?

A 5150 hold would show, as would admittance to a psychiatric facility.

I wish every state didn't have their own nickname for Involuntary psychiatric hold / Involuntary commitment >_<
