Whoo hoo! Good for you. I hate Chick-fil-a so never eat there, now I have an excellent reason not to patronize that franchise.

If you get a link to the newscast I'd love to see it!!

OK I want to say that when you see this, it was 500 degrees outside, we had be there for an hour already by this point, I had no make up on, my hair was just thrown up on my head...so just a warning. Anyway, I am the one holding the lime green sign and one of the girls is beside Me with the short red hair.

If the Supreme Court wasn't closing their eyes, it should have been made clear to everyone that gay rights are covered by the 1964 Civil Rights Act which prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender. If telling someone they can't marry because they are the wrong gender isn't gender discrimination, I don't know what is.

This is absolutely spot on!

The amendment nullifies any law that has language which excludes homosexual marriage (any of the so-called "Defense of marriage acts"). However, it really doesn't do anything to open up the age-old definition of marriage which up until about 40-50 years ago was just assumed to be heterosexual marriage.

I'm not sure it could be used to force the "legalization" of homosexual marriage but it may be very useful as a tool for anyone (Minister, rabbi, JoP) that wished to "test" things and just go ahead and perform a ceremony.

I don't think writing laws banning thought or emotion are a very wise idea. We have a right to think and feel anyway we do; some would say we can't help it (and I agree). I don't want any government defining (or worse, ill-defining) what love is and who we're allowed to give it to.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Brava! And thanks. [:)]

There isn't a Chick-fil-A on my flight path, so the boycott is kind of theoretical for me. I'd likely steer clear, though, given not only the LGBT issues but the random hyphenation and capitalization.

I'm not at all tired of hearing about this subject, K, please be assured.

Just one question, though: What in *God's name* are you talking about?

Basically in summary Chick Fil A is supporting anti gay groups and even ex-gay therapy programs. They are also saying stuff to the effect that being Gay is against what God wants for us.

So at Chick Fil A's everywhere gay people are protesting their stance with signs & making out, and the opposite are also coming out. No pun intended.

Thank you for filling me in there, Kitkat.

Heh. I remember once, in my local cafe, seeing two quite attractive lesbians tickling each other's tonsils with their tongues. It was funny how instantly they became 'invisible'. That's the UK way of doing things: 'If it's remotely unusual, it doesn't exist. You're welcome to act in a way that isn't ordinary - just please don't do it loudly so that it ruins my thought processes as I do the morning crossword'.

*It's none of my business*. That is the British motto.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: I'm sure you guys are tired of hearing about this but.... (8/4/2012 3:00:59 PM)

I approve of that motto.

What is Chick Fil A, and was it created, or did it evolve?

Some other species of lunatic right wing American bible-bashing horseshite, Dr G. Same old formula: some fat, rich American arse (the head honcho of a fast food chain in this case) comes over all 'a bible' lovin', yessirree,'. Being an obese, exploitative, gun' n' torture 'n' bombing fat cunt is perfectly moral and upright - but being gay isn't.

You know that's true, because it says so in the Bible, so long as you read the right bits and ignore the bits that were about being kind to people who were different and stuff (which were bits that were probably added after by goddamned communists or pinkoes, anyway).

You know how it works. Standard American nauseating, repulsive, illogical, hypocritical sewer of an ethical culture. The only things you know for sure are wholesome and upright are a) striving to be as dangerously obese as possible without actually dying and b) blowing the fucking brains out of someone else with your gun.

I hope that helps. :-)

Clearly, you're not one of those who goes to cemetery's where they're burying folks holding signs saying "God hates fags".

If there was ever a time when it seemed perfectly acceptable to shoot people dead in their tracks....I can't think of a better place, time, or suitors.

They'll never change their stance on this subject, but I sure hope their sales fall into the toilet.

I ate there once and will make sure it was the last time.

I used to go out of my way, when I traveled, for their food.

Never again.

The only one is Michigan is a kiosk at the university near my house. Wonder how long before they close...

The news was there, they got pics of My sign and interviewed the lady beside us. It was a wonderful experience.
This was My sign, obviously you can see my artistic abilities and creativity...Just wanted to point that out lol.

Congratulations on busting your protesting cherry!
There is nothing like a good march or a good protest!

I have attended over 10 protests in my life, but I am lucky I live close to D.C.

Yay!!! Next time add the glitter to the sign!!!

A university pitch may not be the best site for them now this storey's gone out.

You look GREAT!
ETA:  We occasionally get lunches at work provided by pharmaceutical reps; I told them all not to bring Chic-fil-a ever again (just my way of protesting!)
