Just looking to see if we can find a place for my husband to have dom training and sub training for me. We live in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, southeast virginia. Thanks for any info you may have. We are new to this and would like some expert training.

Hi DeeDee. Have you tried googling for BDSM events in your area?
I think the best way to learn is by interacting with others, such as at a munch or a demonstration.

I looked up a local club and they had a munch at the Golden Coral? I dont get it... How? What? Eating at a buffet?

Munches are fully clothed get togethers, usually held at local restaurants, with the purpose
of discussing life with other like minded individuals. There is no play at these events.
However, by meeting these people, you open up the door to meeting others, and finding
out where to go where there may be play. It's also the first steps in finding a mentor.

When my (now ex) husband and I were new to BDSM we found "Screw the Roses; Send me the Thorns" particularly useful. We also went to munches, where we met people, were invited to private events, and found a mentor.

We all were at some point and you're asking all the right questions.

As to the mentor: Hit up some of the events. I especially like the vanilla ones, like munches, since it gives you an opportunity to see how the Dominants behave towards waitresses and others that provide service. Talk to people. Find a couple that has a dynamic that appeals to you, and ask.

Going to a munch is a great start and I don't
think you will have any problems finding someone
to answer your questions.
If you were looking for mentor type people
on the forum I would say, just hang around, read
the posts, participate.
Eventually I'm sure you will find experenced people
that you really connect with. When you do,
ask them for advice and guidance.
There are a couple of experienced Doms on here who's
opinions I respect so if I ever felt like I needed help,
I'd probably throw them a Cmail.
