The real shame of it is twofold. A) Obama wants to raise taxes on the 'rich' to pay down the deficit. he said that we "couldn't cut out way out of this mess. B) the tax increases he's proposing would only raise 43 Billion in extra revenue, STILL leaving over $1 TRILLION in unfunded debt EACH YEAR. C) The new budget propose BY OBAMA'S Adminstration, takes that $43 Billion, and instead of reducing the deficit by one nickle, it put's it ALL towards NEW SPENDING!
The difference between a crackhead and a politician, is that if you give a crackhead $100 and a used car, he'll buy $100 worth of crack, and then sell the car and buy as much crack as he can get with the proceeds. A Politician would buy $100 worth of crack, sell the car, and decide to branch out into heroin and cocaine addiction!
The only way to get the deficit down, is pass a balanced budget amendment, then cut taxes, and make Congress and the Administration decide what to get rid of. The Dept. of Energy was created to make us less dependent on foreign oil, are we? If not, it's a failed program, get rid of it! The Dept. of Education started 'helping' school districts. Are our schools STILL the best in the world, or are we lagging far behind the rest of the industrialized countries? FAILED get rid of it! The DoE only provides 10% of many school districts funding, but their 'strings' attached dictate how they spend 80% of their money! The 9/11 Commission determined that the Federal Agencies weren't talking to each other effectively, so what did Bush do? CREATE a WHOLE NEW Beureaucracy to not communicate well! (ok,my spelling leaves something to be desired, I'm drinking). FAIL get RID of it! I can replace the whold old-lady-groping mess with a guy at the gate offering a plate of bacon to the boarding passengers, you no eatee the bacon, you get taken aside for questioning. Aside from that, an office with under fifty people, under the auspices of the National Security Advisor to develop a common database for the FBI, CIA, NSA, and other intelligence agencies to coordinate info on so reports could be automatically cross referecenced by names, topics and geographic locations to flag reports would be MUCH more effective, and you could do away with a whole 'nother cabinet level Department! DHS! (And stop groping grandma!) The EPA did great work in identifying and beginning work cleaning up the "superfund" sites. Have they done anything else lately, beside trying to regulate a liberal agenda that won't pass muster with Congress? No? Turn the "Superfund site" cleanup over to the Dept. of the Interior and disband them! (Besides, anything a Republican did has to be evil, right? NIXON signed the EPA into existance!) Somebody PLEASE look up and see how much of the Federal budget I've wiped away! I may have already created a surplus!
