I dunno, I like them much more when they're funny. I don't really consider any of the tags to be accurate descriptions of a person that need to be understandable and descriptive to outsiders. I see them more as inside jokes between users that have been here long enough to know the history of the boards.

Ishtarr, we will have to see this one differently. Inside jokes, etc, I could see for those who generally make quip replies. (Think Anteater.) There are a number of folks that I don't see that way. You have to remember that I've got a hard on for education around this place and would hope (though it isn't always realized) that people can come here, identify with someone like themselves, and maybe take notice. It's why I very specifically wanted a title that was an honest reflection of Me.

But yeah... if we were going for truth there is a joke/nojoke Carol and I say all the time. Just like all my best BDSM wisdom, it comes from Star Trek (TNG, S5, E21, The Perfect Mate for anyone who wants to look it up). As much as everyone may find it funny, I do in fact see that particular episode of Star Trek as one of the most coherent, sensible, healthy, and strong depictions of IE and M/s that I've come across anywhere... fact or fiction.

One of us will say to the other simply, "I am for you." The phrase itself carries deep levels of meaning much like, "I see you" from Avatar.

So yeah. I am for her. More than I am a dominant, master, top, bottom, even husband... what I am is "for her".

*shrugs*
One is funny as hell... and also a bit interesting in real life because it isn't funny -- in an obscure and humorous way it captures the most important parts of my dynamic. The other is deeply emotionally significant to me... the very expression of what it means to be me in my own eyes reduced to 4 words. I gotta admit, my engineer's brain loves the elegance of being able to do that.

But most importantly, I hold by my stance. I don't want to choose my own label and I hope that isn't normally how it's done. I kind of like the idea that the label finds the poster.

Take the humor if you will, or take what those of us who read and respect your viewpoints.

You have a unique stance here, Jeff. You shouldn't ignore that. It's a little more important in My eyes than the random comic line.

Though, if you want to go for humor, maybe something about that shot in the white panties. [;)]

I say this with an absolutely straight, absolutely literal, no fooling around way. I DO live to serve Carol. Which lends credence to the whole "I am for her" tag idea.

OK, so this topic has taken a serious turn here but a good one I think. Those 4 words also summarize the whole creepy thing... both why I would want it and why Carol would comply with such an incredibly invasive type of "control". I've paid up in kind.... "I am for her". It also gets to a part of why the whole consent thing is so ... weird ... for us. Who's consenting to whom? Does it even matter when "both are for us"?

As you so wisely suggested some time ago LP, a part of why consent is so freaky for us is that by the time such questions might have come up we were already in this state. It also explains why I struggle a little with the words "command" and "obedience". Gosh...those words just sound like they require two actors and we may be a little too intimately close for that to be accurate. The phrase really does summarize pretty much everything if you know how to interpret it.

Funny would totally not work for you. It just wouldn't fit. And thus wouldn't be funny. And that is not to imply that you can't crack/take a joke, but it just wouldn't fit your personality.

But somebody like Kana? Come on, something like freakazoid, vanilla, or cuddly is the only way to go.

I like the "I am for her" for Jeff though, even though I still think that 237th scariest person on CM is great for him too.
With Jeff I could go either way between funny and descriptive.

PS: On a totally unrelated note, why the hell is my extra "r" sticking now that I've changed nicks? You're like the 10th person that has typed that extra "r", with only 1 person so far switching to just "Ishtar". Not that I care that much. It's just interesting that it's sticking when the only reason I had the extra "r" to begin with was because "Ishtar" is already taken (by a dude who hasn't been online in the last decade). And the only reason I switched profiles nicks again is because my husband's ex wife's stalking was getting just a little too annoying.

While I respect you a great deal, you and I got here incompletely different ways. I would love to see that reflected in you.

I want you to be a resource. Ya know, being an educator from your kind of background isn't necessarily a bad thing. They don't always see that from reading thirty or forty posts. Maybe it should just be out there.
