The closing of the XXXth Olympiad caused me to reflect on how far we've come in treating women as equal citizens and how much of that progress is due to a simple law passed just over 40 years ago, Title IX.

A simple law that has thoroughly and profoundly achieved its goal. How can anyone look at the last 40 years and not acknowledge the good that can be worked by government?

Good point Ken. the Saudi female athlete Sarah Attar came last in her event, way behind the other runners. The crowd gave her a standing ovation.
