'chains' typically refers to slavery. If this had been at an event hosted by a mostly black organization, I could see the "up in arms" attitude. It wasnt. There were, and still are, far more forms of slavery than just color... btw.. native americans were also kept as slaves. Financial slavery was, and still is, very much a reality.

And yet, being from the south, considering myself southern, having grown up with the dialect you wish to point out... I dont hear it like you do. I can slip in and out of a southern accent... didnt even realize that until a teacher in high school pointed that fact out. It all depends on whom I am speaking too. I speak to the man here, little to no accent unless Im joking around. He hears me talk to my family and its heavy. I have no basis for why Biden used what you consider a "particular grammar and accent". In an area where people use the word "yunz" for more than one person, I also hear them use the work "ya'll" The message here is more important to me than the accuracy of an accent. Financial slavery... yeah... I got it. It was poorly worded.. and frankly he makes many gaffes in relationship to his metaphors.. but his message was accurate.
