Byrd was NEVER a Grand Dragon of anything...KKK member yes as were a lot of White Politicians at the time. In modern day there was however a Republican Grand Dragon....

I agree with Mark ... I very much doubt you'll find a democrats north of the Mason-Dixon line in the last 80 - 100 years anyway.. The KKK itself is by nature a conservative organization.
There were several republican Grand Dragons who held significant public office. Most recent example being David Duke. The republicans once had him in the running for president at the primary stage.
