dcnovice -> Facebook's Decline (8/16/2012 6:26:00 PM)

I have reasons to be grateful for Facebook. When I lost my job in 2009, it helped me spread the word to many folks who'd never have known otherwise. They responded with much-appreciated support--including the lead to my current job. The site has also helped me connect with old friends and colleagues, and it led me to a cool part-time gig as a guide at a historic house in DC. And, as I shared in another thread, Facebook was invaluable when a friend died, and I had no way to identify, much less contact, her family and friends. And yet . . . I increasingly find that my visits these days bring as much frustration as delight. Crap that I've no interest in--"Trending Articles"; friends' acceptance of "offers" from third parties; and updates from games--keep appearing in my feed. I unsubscribe from one crop, and a new batch shows up. And even when I've ventured into a friend's profile to specify exactly what kinds of updates I want--a multi-click process--I still get every photo that anyone shares from a stranger's page. Anyone else feel that Facebook is heading downhill?
