"So far, putting Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) on presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney's ticket hasn't led to any detailed plans for his top issue, the budget. That won't change, according to a Romney aide who spoke to Politico.

"The nature of running a presidential campaign is that you're communicating direction to the American people," a Romney adviser, who is not named, told Politico. "Campaigns that are about specifics, particularly in today's environment, get tripped up."

The issue of the budget, particularly taxes and cuts to entitlement programs, is a pivotal one for the election and is one both campaigns are trying to exploit. For the Romney campaign, that has meant accusing President Barack Obama of decimating Medicare by taking funds from it for his health care law, even though that is a false claim. Ryan's own budget would transform the program to make it almost unrecognizable.

Another Romney official, also unnamed, told Politico the campaign isn't scared to talk about Medicare. "We'll do it for as long as they want," the official said. "Let's do it."

That doesn't mean talking in specifics, however. Romney was vague about his budget plans during the Republican primary -- he said he would cut funding to Planned Parenthood but not much else"

It could be.. and.. yeah... Im going out on a limb here... that the two are working out the details on a budget plan now. Hard to believe Romney would enter presidential debates without one.

Then again...........

That makes no sense whatsoever. When Romney picked Ryan as VP, he adopted Ryan's budget plan right then. If Romney's team doesn't get specific about exceptions (and even if they do), Romney will be taken as following Ryan's plan in its entirety.

If Romney tries to disavow the Ryan plan, he'll end up tripping all over himself.

Romney has said that if the Ryan plan came to his desk, he would sign it.

Not a lot of distance there.

So this week he's just bullshitting the media so he doesn't do like a 20 point nose dive.

BTW I remember him saying that as well at some point... the shitstream is just so deep at this point, it's hard to remember when he lied about what.

This reminds me of Pelosi saying "you have to pass it to see whats in it".....
How popular was that with republicans? (lets face it, it wasnt popular with anyone.... )
But this... at election time... is ignored
what a dumb thing to say.
Almost as bad as "read my lips"

Tim, he also said that his plan would differ from Ryan's, in unspecified ways.

Two statements. Take your pick.
